Rally Point Details:

Come along for a 3 night trip to Death Valley Thursday October 22 to Sunday October 25th. A moderate level trip with some challenging obstacles. Requirements for the trip will be 4x4, high clearance, preferably rock sliders, extra fuel, AMBER LIGHT ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND HAM RADIO OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE GROUP. Even if you don’t have a HAM license you can listen in. Amber and HAM are REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN.

Day 1: 7am caravan point at McDonald’s in Pleasanton CA at Santa Rita RD & 580E. Our secondary meet up will be in Lone Pine CA at 3pm. From there we will head up Swansea grade to camp near Burgess Mine. Elevation will be about 8500 feet. Temperature likely to drop down to the 30s at nighttime.

Day 2: head to salt tram then to Cerro Gordo mine. We will make a diversion to Father Crowley Overlook to see jet fighters at Jedi Fighter interchange (if they are flying still) and have lunch. We will then back track to then turn off to Hunter Mountain Pass. After the pass we will camp at Ubehebe Talc mine.

Day 3: Plan for sunrise viewing of Ubehebe crater then to Race Track. Following race track we will take Lippincott pass to then enter in saline valley. Head North through warm springs. We will then head through Steel Pass and Dedeckera Canyon. We will then enter Eureka dunes to settle for the 3rd night of camping.

Day 4: head home

**Our route will take us through Yosemite National Park which now REQUIRES a day pass ($35) purchased IN ADVANCE! You will need to create a simple account, choose October 22, 2020, and the pass is good for 7 consecutive days so it will allow you to pass back through on the way home. https://www.recreation.gov/ticket/facility/300015
