Oil and filter change. Just rolled 197,000 miles.

while I was down there, I did a preemptive starter replacement. That failed suddenly on theothertwin and cost dearly to have done with towing and shop.

Well, it was yesterday and the day before…. But we yanked the 3.6 Pentastar at 216,000+ miles. Oil cooler went caput again, overheated again. So we pulled the engine, taking the heads to be hot tanked and decked, replacing timing chains (been running a P0016 code for a while now, culprit is a stretched timing chain). And putting her back together with a 2014+ oil cooler. (Better design, no clip on part at the bottom to fail).

Big props to my Kid Brother, this isn’t like working on an old car with a carb!

Awesome you are getting it rebuilt, but I am so so glad I have unloaded my pentastar. After reading how many issues they have, in many different vehicles, if I kept my jk I was going to swap in an LS or Coyote into it.

reset my throttle by wire on the patriot. Seems to have fixed the throttle and drivability issues we were having.
NOPE. Ha ha. She's now in the shop with the PCV valve replaced, new TB on order, new spark plugs and new air filter. Next up new brakes and oil and trans fulid change.

Not in my garage but this morning the glass guy showed up at work and put a new windshield in my CJ5. The 46 year old windshield was so scratched driving in the dark was a game of driving via braile when heading towards other headlights. The light would dazzle you.

Did a quick experimental setup for a 10 gallon, on-board water system. Will drive around like this for a week or two and see what needs changing before finalizing the install.

I has come to my attention that the sqeaking in the rear of the pat could be the springs in the perches. To combat this, I am taking out the rear springs, putting a bead of urethane around them, spreading it out and letting it dry. Then re installing the springs. Should stop any squeaks that it could be. Next up is to do the brakes, new tires and refresh the suspension.

I used to do prototype vehicle testing, that was 1 or 2 years out on released new model vehicles. Besides power train evaluations, we also did 'fit n finish' write-ups on how chassis components worked together in pre-production models, ie' what problems manifested themselves over a period of time. One issue that came up over a period of actual driving, was the appearance of a component squeek. Sometimes they were not easy to find, and track-down. It would be a issue sometimes over a period of time and distance. A issue might be the component materials in a bushing, or a worn leaf spring pad, that only made noise in certain driving parameters.

Glad you located the issue in your vehicle. Urethane components have come quite a ways from past decades, and are not as susceptible to being noisy in under 'greased' operation's. My BIL has a suspension piece that has not become aggravating enough to fix yet. The vehicle now carries the nickname.....SQUEAKY.......

more what I didn't do..

Today I decided not to put a RTT on my 4Runner.
I have been going back and forth for a while now, trying to decide.

Ultimately, throwing 130 to 180 lbs that high and and losing ~1.5 MPG is a no go.
I just realized you said 130 to 180 lbs. Which RTTs were you looking at? I assume a roof rack was involved in those totals too?
