What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

With 371,000 mile on the cruzer it is time to replace the steering box. I got as far as removing the drag link ball joint without damaging it, removing the shield that protects the steering shaft universal and giving the bolts on the universal plenty of penetrating lubricant. Now I wait 24 hours to remove those two bolts. If they break, I'd be SOL, so patience is key.

What is wrong with the steering box? Is it leaking? Good luck with the removal!

ya, leaking a lot and the steering was little on the loose side causing a bit of wandering. I was able to find one that has only 150,000 miles on it and no leaks. I'll get that in along with new hoses and all will be good. It's a pretty simple job as long as no bolts get broken. Ha! Interestingly it didn't start leaking until we got home from our trip up to the Arctic.

Small beginnings... Painted the faded taillights on my '04 Matrix "TRD-lite". I used VHT "NiteShades" clear red paint, hit it with a quick polish and wax. This was about 3 coats. Also replaced the missing LH fender liner.

I added a Propex propane exchange heater for my roof top tent. I used two Fat 50cal ammo cans, cut the bottoms off, extended them with sheet metal and mounted them between my rack and rear window of my cab. I purposefully left room there when I set up my rack. The heater is mounted inside and the hosing is all attached and ready to extend up to the window.

I wired up power from my truck and the control panel is mounted to a project box and lives in the tent. I picked up a window tent pass-through off Etsy and we are warm all night long up here at the top of the USA! Pictured is my KB Voodoo Rack that mounts over my tonneau cover and makes removal easy when I’m not off roading.
