The worst is singles sections on sailing forums. You get some truly lonely and desperate dudes trying to find a mermaid to come live on their tiny boat with them.

True but an on-line presence just doesn't have that same personable aspect as meeting in person. I thought it would also be nice to have an annual Nationwide / Worldwide event where OBers could meet from far and wide.

And how will you police the single aspect.... maybe a rule like "no lonely horny married singles" allowed ? You are setting up the predators dream.
