Full disclosure. Not a camera buff. Not a youtuber wanting to post videos but I do want to be able to capture video of my wanderings. I currently have a very old go pro hero 4 that captures video in 12 min segments that are 2GB large. It needs software on my ipad to start/stop recording easily. I dont mind that but the wireless connection with the go pro makes me swap connections if I want to use the ipad for a OnX trail redirect search. Needless to say, the video size gets unwieldly to manage post trip. I was thinking about going with a dash cam but just not sure.

What do you all use to capture dash videos?
What software do you use to edit?

I am looking at getting a DJI Osmo Pocket of some sort and have a mount on the dash. These little cameras are awesome. @Hourless Life uses one for their dash cam and their footage is great and very stable. You can see their jeep rocking back and forth over stuff and the video stays perfectly stable. For editing I am going to be using corel pinnacle. Any video editing software will work for single camera footage.
