Hey guys, new to the forum here. How were the road conditions from Hwy 1 to Usal beach? Looks like you went just recently.
Planning a trip on 2wheels this coming weekend.
I hope it is not all wet and muddy on those up/down hills, kind off difficult on a heavy bike .
Last time have taken the road all the way from Shelter Cove in August last year and it was good.
Not sure how much of a damage have winter rains accomplished.

Thank you!
Wasn't bad at all...a little rutted and slick in some areas due to the recent rain. A few deep puddles but you can ride the trail shoulder to avoid the main deeper areas. Large full size trucks towing large trailers got through with no problems. One two wheel drive Forerunner got stuck on the way out; street tires, fully inflated to much throttle and she spun into a ditch. A quick tug and she was on her way, no further issues. We saw other bikes as well...just be cautious, but I'd say give it a go. :)

In my mind I am always at a remote high-elevation lake surrounded by snowcapped peaks.

As an adv rider of many years I would rate this 2 on a 1 to 5 scale. There are some steep turms you'll need to take with a bit of speed, a few ruts you can largely avoid, and 3 puddles that are maybe 12-14 inches deep that you might be able to side-run, otherwise easy-peasy.

We didn't check the gate, so you should contact Mendocino County Roads for conditions. It was still closed when I checked mid-April, but might be open now.

Beach is unchanged from last couple of years, firm to a point and then large river rocks and sand out to the water. The creek was still flowing, and is illegal to cross if has water.

Happy Trails!
