Spring Break 2018 Death Valley Overland Trip Planning March 25-29 - 03/25/2018

Next trip should include the warm springs mine (have not sat down and placed your trail on maps to see entry and exit locations), have not been in over 10 plus years but the mine is awesome (used to be able to crawl through bars into, water at the bottom), buildings could camp in and back in the day the pool was filled with the hot spring (since drained, diverted and either filled or empty for safety reasons according to rangers :( ) This also passes striped butte (if coming from the Trona/Ridgecrest panement range side of so cal), an amazing thing to see if you like geology, there is also the barker ranch, famous for charles manson that is there. .

My biggest challenge is always meal prep. I suck at it and end up eating hot dogs and mac n cheese for days. I'm also spending money faster than I should... most of my camping gear is full-size stuff for staying at a lake for a few days. It's nice stuff, but not easy to pack or tie-down. Looking forward to this trip. It will definitely be a serious shake-down for me and my packing abilities, etc.

AH meal prep. Rule number 1. Steak on the grill on the 1st night, not later then the bears get it.
Celebrate! you made it out of the city. All the other stuff put in big totes. I have 4 boxes, recovery, cooking, tools, cooler. Where one person can lift in and out but big. You don't want 15 small boxes in and out. I bring two 6 foot folding tables and chairs. You got the space to bring everything but the kitchen stink. If you really want to ruff it, you can get a jeep and pack it in. Lol.
Don't forget the steaks.

Please share pictures when you guys get back! I am currently planning a trip to Alabama hills and beyond, and just stumbled on this thread. Have fun guys!!

P.S. this is my first post on OB, stoked on all the great content!

Well, we had an outstanding trip to Death Valley! They scenery, locations, trails and Overland Bound Members who made the trek were great! So many memories, challenges and sights. Here are some pics I will share, but to see more, check out my IG: @ArmyofMike or check out Kilo 5 Overlanders (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLzKcOlurt1SHFWNMv9xrJw) for the Trailer and upcoming DV2018 movie.

It was a great trip and would not have been possible without Overland Bound, Rally Point and it's members.
