She's not just a pavement queen. Had a lot of fun running it on Sunday. Went through a lot of mud and went down some trails. It doesn't have any skid plates right now so I took it easy, for now.
Pit stop on the way to Gooseberry Mesa. First significant road trip in the LC and it performed flawlessly. Averaged 16 mpg from San Diego to Vegas - a new record!
Enjoy that mileage while you can. It'll slowly erode as you take up this hobby. It's a great rig though, innit?
I don't doubt that for a second. In my normal day to day driving with the truck unloaded I'm between 11 and 12 mpg. My elation was due to the fact that I had quite a bit of weight in the rig and I was cruising at 75-80 mph for the majority of the drive with the AC on. You certainly don't buy a Land Cruiser (or any Toyota truck really) for efficiency... Overall I was ecstatic at how awesome the 100 series was to spend some time in.
