I'm new and down just south of Cincinnati..I'm gonna see about making it over..sounds like fun
That would be cool if you can. We have a primitive camp site picked out. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like to camp without facilities, so I'm probably going to have to find a motel in Dugger for a couple nights.

I might be interested in joining up at Redbird SRA. I'm in central Illinois, and have wanted to go there but none of my local friends are into the overlanding scene. It seems like a lot of people here are more into the trail rides and scenery vs. the rock crawling a mudding. That is more up my alley as well. I'm a beginner as well so I am not too keen on destroying anything. Plus, I wouldn't mind snagging a Jeep badge or two.

Awesome! That would be great if you can make it. I think most all of us don't intend any trail damage. This is just for fun. Where at in Central Illinois are you? Some of us are in the Quad Cities.

I am just across the Illinios River from Peoria in a town called Pekin. I hope to have an RTT by then which would be a good trial run for my 2 week trip to Colorado in September.

An RTT would be really nice. I'm hoping to get an m416 trailer eventually and putting an RTT on it. We will probably be coming through Peoria on our way to Redbird. Some of us are taking Friday off though so it will probably be earlier in the day.

I wouldn't mind coming across an M416 either. They are getting more difficult to find at a cheap price. There are a lot of replica trailer companies out there though. Ruger Trailers is my goal if i don't stumble across one before I save up for one of theirs.

I have a couple vacation days unspoken for this year. If this trip is something I can go on I wouldn't mind tagging along on your way through. Gotta convince the wife to come with first.

Cool. Keep us posted. If not we're going to plan some other regional stuff.

I'm still working to get that Friday off but I'm pretty sure I will be bringing my dad on this trip.

Looks like my son will be able to get off work and ride shotgun...

At some point we should come up with comm channels to use on Ham, CB and FRS for the trip. It looks like there are 4 or 5 local repeaters, but we should have a simplex channel for most use.

My wife and I both got approved for Friday off so we'll be heading out early morning. It's about a 5 hour drive for us. Hopefully we can caravan with @Wildland Outdoors . I have CB and GMRS, unfortunately no HAM yet. It's on my list of things to do this winter.

Awesome. I was going to buy an SWR meter, but I'll wait and have someone show me how to tune it that knows what they are doing. Then I'm probably going to bug you about HAM.
