I use this type of nozzle on jerry cans. I use the plastic part shown at bottom to add approx. 20" of fuel hose, which, when filling, is pushed down into the vehicle's filler hole. Never spilled or even dripped, except once when I didn't hold the jerry can correctly and it blurped some gas out the vent tube.
Practiced filling a non-jerry can, new Midwest Can company model 5610, 5 gallon plastic gas can. Fueling the truck with it a couple weeks ago, the stupid safety nozzle made it so difficult. The pressure from the lip of the truck filler neck is supposed to push back on some sliding safety valve to allow the fuel to run.
What a mess.
And to top it all off, my gas cap no longer "clicks" when I close it. It most likely isnt damage to the cap, as that was out of the way. So something got smoothed out on the lip of the filler neck, I'm guessing.
