Arrived in Redmond yestarday, looking forward to meeting everyone at the expo! todays adventure is to get Michelle some coffee, and then to take a drive down to Christmas Valley to go out and see the 1973 crash site of a Navy A-6 which was from Whidbey NAS accross the water from where we live. Been on our to do list since we saw it on the youtubes. Going to be a nice day for some exploring.

Lol.... No we never got the cofffe, ended up with the ever so effecient McD's McMuffins and Cokes. With our usual getting distracted by squirrels and shiny objects along the way we got down to the area near the crash site late in the day, and the road we took in ended up on a hill a couple of miles from the site. Could just see the tail fin sticking up in the distance. Was about 90 degrees and we decided not to walk in this trip. We are hoping to spend a few days running down through the alvord desert later this year and will visit again. (forgot to bring the US flag I was going have on hand to replace the one there if it was worn or weathered anyway)

Anyone else get out and give their OB decals a good dirt bath lately? A fun day out exploring BLM land around Christmas Valley, Oregon today. Normally it would be 'In darkness we found camp' but tonight it was tonight it was in darkness we found hotel as we are staying in Redmond ahead of the expo. Been a while since we have just randomly gone exploring and it felt great. Did a great job getting Eeyore thoroughly filthy, though nothing a credit card and twenty minutes in the spray and wash could not take care of, now all shiny and ready for camping at the Expo in a few hours.

For anyone still on their way to the expo, there is still open area around our OB group camp we are near the main entrance and have a US and Overland Bound flag up on a pole, the staff has been great with parking people where they want so far. We're have five rigs so far.

For those at the expo, here is our camp location for those that want to stop by and say hello. Three word location: ongoing.monkey.barricades. still have not filled up the campsites near us, should be some for those arriving early am.

We are in the overflow area. Hard to miss the new trailer
Travis, Sorry we missed you, heard you stopped by while we were out, someone should have directed you to our sign in sheet on the table. We did walk around the south camp area Sat evening but somehow missed you. Hope you had a good time at the Expo, we really enjoyed it and will be back next year!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our base camp at the expo and signed in! We enjoyed meeting lots of OB members from across the country, outside of members from the PNW, we visited with folks from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, California among others. Lots of Overland Bound logos all around the expo and campgrounds. Michelle and I got to know so many good people on this trip, just not enough time to find and meet everyone as we wandered around.

It was great to meet Kent Reynolds, Overland Bounds Executive Director, as he wandered around the expo, hope you were lucky enough to find him and get a challenge coin or sticker!

We had 5 rigs in our base camp, and we had an awesome time hanging around camp swapping stories and tossing around ideas for upcoming trips and events. Scott and Neil, always a pleasure to hang out with you guys, and glad to meet Doug (who brought our camp mascot Olaf who made sure there was always someone around to pay attention to him and give lots of pets) Chris and Nina was good to get to know you both and your family (Michelle was happy to have a baby around to grandma) and Payton was always there to be helpful around camp and make sure no one went without any treats.

Also, a big shout out to our honorary base camp members Rich, Melinda & Jason! They really wanted to camp with us, but Rich had purchased the experience package and luckily enough realized that came with a dedicated space before he unpacked and set up next to us. Melinda & Jason are just special and were selected to have their cool build on display at the DIY section. (Great job on your presentation Jason, and I want my $5 for not heckling you.)

We usually prefer smaller venues and events, but wanted to give a big expo a try, and we had a great time, a bit sunburned (although we lost that challenge to Neil…lol) and very tired at the end of the event, we are already making plans for next year’s Expo, and even discussing making the trek down to Arizona next year!

As per OTH Overland standard operating procedures we managed to get distracted several times while taking the long way home and rolled in at midnight last night. few pictures from this weekend below.

Afternoon rainbow appears over camp.

Just a typical sunset over a sea of rooftop tents.

The one an only snack purchased at the event, and yes they were good, and yes they were $10 each....
