Hi, Can anyone recommend a shop knowledgeable with off-road Toyotas in the St. Louis, Kansas City or Springfield areas? We're converting a 2005 Sequoia. Recent steering rack upgrade doesn't seem to have gone well. And our local shops are either stumped or just Jeep people. We're newbies so figuring out some of the issues on our own is daunting. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

You might try calling Dirk at DPG Offroad in Rose Hill, KS........super knowledgeable guy and will always answer the phone....he may have some Toyota based referral.

Ozark overland outfitters is 100 miles from Springfield. Jason is Toyota only and worked at the Toyota dealership for years before moving into the speciality side. Primary focus is Landcruisers but I’m sure he can handle it.

I’d help ya out if I could, not much I can’t figure out but I’m also only free about 2 hours a week

I guess these guys beat me to it. Other places I've seen mentioned are:

Axleboy (mostly Jeep but they do Toyotas)
Dan's Foreign Auto in Wentzville

I spent hours looking for another post with a couple more STL recommendations but no luck yet. Facebook search s*cks.

Thanks for that. I'm PJ's husband (it's my truck.) Been harder than I would like to find a good toyota off road mechanic in the St. Louis area.

We've been using Schiele Automotive and they've been pretty good. Brad the mechanic there is a serious Toyota 4x nerd. I'm just looking for more resources.

Yes, that was one of them. There's another one that I've heard good things about but haven't tried. Another supposed "Toyota whisperer".
