Nevada day trip New years day

  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

I'm still in, won't make any of the rendezvous points though, because I'm leaving right now! See you guys at Moon Rocks!

Also, confirmed that we will have a "beastly" visitor on this run!

I'm an OB newbie but I am friends with Maktruk and a bunch of other folks joining you today. I have wheeled this area a few times and there are several excellent trails in that area.

Dogskin Mountain approx. 7 miles N is a fun loop from Moon Rocks. It includes a steep climb and a steep descent on the other side but can be run in either direction. I'd recommend W to E and back through Winnemucca Valley. If there is snow on top, it could be sketchy. Off Pyramid Lake Hwy to the E of Moon Rocks are a myriad of trails on both sides of the road.

I just got off the phone with MakTruk and we discussed some of these options. Have a great day and make sure to post some pictures!

It was nice meeting you all today. I wish we could have spent more time on the trail, but such is life.

I hope those of you who live on the other side of the hill don't encounter any significant travel difficulties. Hard to believe with the blue skies in these pics that it was snowing on the way home.
