So now I am thinking.. As long as I get the Wife on board 100%, we will head to avi casino Thursday mid day, stay overnight at the avi hotel casino, then get the trip started with everyone on Friday morning... This might make her happy to get at least one nights sleep in a nice room first. For those thinking about doing something like this, rooms are running about $60 for the night.
This is a great idea! Lol I will be using this as part of my negotiations as well.

So question.. Not that it matters, but is the water crossing at the end mandatory, or is there a bypass?

Watch this Post#1 for the occasional update as things progress or change.

Added 11/14/16:
OK, this has been tentatively scheduled for the last weekend in March 2017. Let's move forward and plan this date. This should be an awesome trip.
If any of you have questions about what vehicle requirements are, if you wonder if your vehicle is appropriately equipped for this trip, post up! I have been once in March of 2015 and have some idea, but I'm counting on those who have been more recently to advise as well.

Background: The Mojave Road is an historic road that runs basically from the Colorado River near the California/Arizona/Nevada border into the Mojave desert, terminating somewhere west of Baker, CA. More history to follow.

The general plan: March is a good time to visit, daytime temperatures are moderate, nighttime temps are tolerable if not chilly.

We'll meet at the Avi Casino just North of I-40 near the Colorado river. You have to go North from there to find the road. We'll start with that. This is an easy trail to jump out at various points if you need to make it shorter.

Proposed Dates: March 24 - 26, 2017 (Meet Friday Morning, hit the trail, finish Sunday afternoon)

Possibility of 15 - 20 rigs! Wow, this will be an undertaking for sure.
Not un-manageable, but it looks like we'll need a permit for sure, I'll follow up.
Really looking forward to this.
BTW, this is by no means closed out, if you think you would like to go, post up and I'll keep track here!

More info to come:
- Trail Comms
- Common meals / potluck?
- Sightseeing along the way - what to see?
- Other?
************************************** End 11/21/16 Edit

Vehicle requirements: Although I've heard tales of VW Vans and Pontiacs taking this trail, I would suggest at least stock 4WD as some of the trails can best be navigated with added traction. This is not a difficult trail but 3 days on dirt roads can be demanding. Small trailer friendly is my estimation as well.
Let's discuss more if you have questions about your particular vehicle and equipment.

...and here's March 2017.

Dan.
Since I already called NPS and BLM whenever we get the final tally of how many of us are going etc, I can sort out the permit situation. Should be fairly easy based on the info I got from NPS.

@pabloquiros thanks for taking this on, you will become the resident expert on this!

Looks like all have been added to the list, although I didn't add it.
I don't know who did, I thought only the OP had edit rights to the Original Post, ??

I think another topic we could add to the discussion with a group this big and the propensity to put all our adventures on film... who would like to step up (one or several?) to document on video and still life this trip?

That way, as people take pics, we could all contribute them to the "director" or "producer" and come up with a decent video.

NFI, I thought only OP could edit original post as well? Who knows.

On the camera situation, my wife will be coming with and since she forced me to buy her this fancy ass camera, I volunteer her to take pictures. I can't speak for her editing skills but at least taking pictures we can sure take part. We also have a drone with 360 degree camera that we will be taking, so we can grab some aerial video, who's going to piece it together though? I don't know, lol.
