@Valentin Schneider and I talked about the idea the other day when we met, to do a little meetup. Because there are some members from the area around Rhine-Main, Rhine Hesse, South Hesse and Middle Rhine Valley.

I try to encourage any members heading out if they don’t mind company to let other members know where you are going.
It’s surprising how often other members tag along for a night or two and it helps create the community we all enjoy

Absolutely, Dave. It doesn't have to be a big tour, an off-road trip, or a lot of driving all day on tracks. Just getting together for a few hours, drinking coffee, tea or beer together, having good conversations. That helps build community.

By the way, we are already 5 member who join this meetup in January. I look forward to it.

Hi folks,

We'll be in the Stuttgart region for New Year's, and are currently planning to drive home to the Netherlands on Jan 1st and/or 2nd (might stay a night with family in the Rhein-Main area). Since this is straight on the road home, I'm thinking of dropping by for a quick Hello. Will update you once we have finalized our plans.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

I'm sure you've already read it in the press, there are new regulations in Germany regarding C19. These also affect private meetings, which is the New Year's Meetup. It applies:
  • Vaccinated and recovered people are allowed to meet only within a group of maximum of ten people (children up to 14 years are excluded) from December 28.
  • If unvaccinated persons are present, then the rules for unvaccinated persons apply: this means meeting only with own household and maximum two persons of another household.
  • These rules also apply to the outdoors.
Of course, this also has an impact on our New Year's Meetup. Partly these rules were already valid before, but especially the rules for vaccinated people are new. We can now consider the new rules as good or bad. However, the discussion does not help now.

As from my point of view it is not the task of a private person to obtain information on the health status of another person or even to check vaccination cards or other health certificates, I will not do that either. The state of health of another person is simply none of my business as a private person and I have no right to receive information about it. Anyway, this would have nothing to do with overlanding and would only contribute to further negative developments in society.

Nevertheless, we must abide by the applicable rules. Therefore, the note: Only fully vaccinated/from C19 recovered persons can participate in this New Year's Meetup. I see no other possibility because of the new rules. As far as I can see by the RSVPs here, we will keep the maximum group size within the limit of 10 persons.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Haven't thought about that... And yes no discussion needed, it won't change anything anyway.

Hi folks,

quick update from me: We had to change our plans for New Year's and never made it to Stuttgart. We headed back home today to have some time to relax and get ready for next week. I sadly won't be able to join you tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to meeting you all later this year at another event...

Happy new year!

Hello all together,
Man, that was a great day today.
Great conversations around the campfire, barbecue, food from the Dutch Oven, sweets, fun, lots of laughter. Just super! Thanks to all who were there and made it such a nice day!
I hope that everyone has arrived home safely. See you next time!
