That Tacoma is a good ride. Very reliable and capable. I like Jeeps for all the reasons you mention too, but if you need to go long distance you'll appreciate the Tacoma!

I ordered a Trasharoo myself as well. Unfortunally all that kind of equipment is very expensive here in europe. As taxes and shippment is a problem.

Would love to have MaxTrax and such. But they are about 100 euro's cheaper in the states as here.
Anyway, Ordered a Trasharoo, and will find a brand of those TRED's, Hannibal or MaxTraxes when the time is come.

I wanted to post a few photos from my trip this past weekend. I was up near Mt. Shasta about 1-1.5 hours from Red Bluff, CA. It was a beautiful weekend, found some nice trails, did some shooting, and got some nice trail rash. The trails were not too tough, but narrow in a few places.

I see you are in VT - I am from MA and spent a lot of time in NH. I am currently in CA (and sometimes UT), but will likely be moving back to MA/NH in the future.
 
New member on here, found the site through Michael’s youtube videos. I’m on a few other forums as well but I enjoy the smaller, family friendly feel of this one.

My first ‘car’ was an 86 Toyota Xtra cab – I drove it for 8 year all over the province until I moved to the city. Lifted trucks with antennas and racks and underground parkades don’t mix well..

I ended up letting it go to a new owner who was headed to Belize with it.. I like to imagine it’s parked on the beach there still.

I went a stretch (literally) with VW’s - had a fleet of Jettas,

And then spent a few years driving our Westfalia all over the place;


Once we settled down and started a family our rigs needed to be foolproof;
Our Subaru does all the daily driver work during the week,
Then doubles for rally duty on the weekends;


And then our Tacoma does everything else;

Most of our adventures these days mean Trailer duty;

But as the little ones get bigger and into more adventures I’m hoping to increase our time spent exploring and travelling light. Maybe eventually a RTT and a cross country setup.

Well, my poison of choice was a Hummer H3. I bought a 2008 which was the first year GM cranked out the Alpha edition with the V8 vs 5cyl, cast iron front diff vs the earlier aluminum housing, front and rear lockers. East to fit 35" tires with a simple T bar crank. I've never regretted the choice. Here's a then til now vid.
Currently rebuilding a 60's era Bantam trailer to use as a base camp.

I love your set up - I would not shy from an H1. Honestly, I know nothing about your rig, but love what you have done with it!
 
I really loving it. And the trailer as well.
Unfortunally this rig is something you just cant afford here in the Netherlands with just a normal salary.

The road taxes will kill you.

But hell, I like it much.
 
Thanks guys. Been a comfortable and capable rig. Been averaging 15-16mpg so far. Will be curious to see how much that drops this summer with the trailer in tow lol!!

Thanks man, it's a 2008 hummer H3 Alpha, with K&N high flow air filter, AirDoc intake, sherpa snorkel with Sy-klone prefilter, gutted the mufflers as the inline resonator dulls the sound down enough, and repiped exhaust to dual tucked up nice and tight to avoid snags. Cranked the front torsion bars, added extended bump stops in front, and extended shackles in the rear. New Bilstein shocks the whole way round, Put some 315 75r 16 BFG AT/KO's on. Added the OEM rock sliders and the OEM underbelly armor reinforced with THOR plates. Added a ViAir pump stashed under the hood. Added an OEM brush guard, CB photo winch plate, Warn Zeon 10k/s, with factor 55 thimble and fairlead and warn deluxe shackle, added the OEM twin roof spots and grille spots, Gobi stealth roof rack, with 4 LED spot fixtures, Gobi axe & shovel holder, custom high lift jack mount, custom limb risers, rotopax fuel can mount on rear door with two rotopax 2.5 gal cans. Interior rear door, custom lazer cut drop shelf. Whew..think that's about it. Got a rubber duck rear diff cover sitting waiting to be mounted and the belly will be done armor wise.
The trailer is a 60's era Bantam trailer, POR15'd the frame, gutted the axle and leaf springs and swapped to Timbren 2500lb axle-less suspension, with 5x5.5 hubs so I can run matching wheels &stores to the hummer. Extended the tongue and added a lock n' roll hitch. Added a removable roof rack that hooks into the stake pockets. Tossed a CVT RTT up top with a rhino rack batwing awning. Just finished custom steps/fenders and will be welding in mounts for four drop leg jacks. Bubble levels on all four sides so trailer can be raised and leveled. Will finish exterior paint this weekend and bedline interior next week. After that, retire trailer to 7pin and add lights under tent shining into trailer on one circuit, lights in tent on another circuit, and usb/ 12v charging ports on a third circuit. Then it'll be time to build the slide out kitchen. This project will probably slow during summer, and pick back up next fall. Hope that covers your info desires lol!

AWESOME! Thank you so much for sharing that information. It's so nice to see the variety in all these rigs and how people get them ready for the trails and expeditions.

I have the BFG A/T KOs and really like them, but no where near as big as your tires. I have 265/65R18 because I am limited with size without further modifying the wheel wells and running lifted all the time. I actually just ordered the new BFG A/T KO2s on Sunday and they will be available in April. Looking forward to some of the upgrades and new features, I am hearing amazing things about the new KO2s. Mine have been awesome, but my only complaint is heavy mud - though that's really most AT tires. I took a close look at the KO2s and the tread is definitely an improvement and people are saying much better in mud and overall performance. I also ordered a 10 gallon CO2 air-up tank that I need to mount somewhere. I also have a heavy duty ARB compressor with the tank and portable case.

Yeah, the KO2's are fantastic! Put my hands on one the other day while I was getting a rotation. They look mean! My trouble is the AT/KO's last soo long I won't be swapping any time soon :blush:
 
Nice rides Guys! I really enjoy looking at all the different rides, set ups, and adventures. it helps with the Cabin Fever!!!
