Hello and welcome to the OB family.

Hi All, and thanks for adding me to the group!

I'm based in Tucson AZ and enjoy exploring the Southwest. I currently have an HD Truck with a large slide-in camper, and I'm looking to downsize. I got this rig primarily for fishing and hunting base camp, but I want to downsize to be able to more easily take some shorter trips, and farther from home trips. I have lots of experieince car camping, backpacking, RV camping.

I'm researching my next build. Leaning towards a full size truck (F-150) and a topper. I sometimes tow a SxS (just under 4,000lbs with trailer). Between that and being 6'1"/210lbs I want the extra space of a 6.5 foot bed.

I have TONS of questions, but since I'm in the early stages here are my main concerns right now:

1. Good, comfortable sleep is hands down my #1 priority. I'm leaning towards a truck topper with a pop-up, e.g. OVRLND, Topo Topper, etc. I'm a 200lb plus side sleeper, and I've slept on 4" memory foam and woke up with sore hips. So I'm really leaning toward the OVRLD toppers because you can add more bed height and a ticker mattress. But I'd love to hear others experience, any bigger folks getting a good nights sleep on a 2-3" mattress (like the ones offered by most other topper manufactuerers?). I know I can add addiitional foam/bedding/etc when I setup but I'm not crazy about carrying/storing and setting up more bedding when I camp.

2. For the truck I was looking at adding Roadmaster Active Suspension to help with the extra weight, seems like an easy inexpensive way to go. Anyone have experieince with that?

Hi everyone new to the forum. Thank you for adding me.

I live in Palm Coast, Florida. I just purchased a 2024 Bronco Sport Big Bend. Looking to do some tent camping, fishing a traveling. I have grown up adventuring new places, but this vehicle should help me do more of that. I have already seen some of the posts and wow, I am excited.
