Just coming back to Overlanding with the purchase of my 2005 Xterra SE. I"m prepping the rig (if I can call it that at this point) for a cross country trip later this year. I just bought this with only 65,000 miles on it, should be a great platform! FYI for the SMOD issue - radiator was already replaced.

Hello,
My name is Travis (AKA FlyboyTR) and I'm from L.A. (Lower Alabama). I joined Overland Bound as a member last week and am glad to be here.

We enjoy camping in all forms and try to do a little bit of everything. We have only been exploring the overlanding concept for less than a year. However, we are having fun and continue to expand. In Sept/Oct 2018 we did a 29 day, 8,300 mile trip out west pulling our off-road capable pop up camper (which we now have for sale). Our primary tow and off-road vehicle is an 06 Lexus GX470 with tires and lift. We have certainly enjoyed it!

I will look forward to reading, learning, asking questions and contributing when I can. Thanks! :)View attachment 83192

Hey all I had a 1992 Toyota 4 Runner that was a little modded for offroading and some overlanding. (3 inch lift, 33 ko2s, light bar, rack and recovery gear) Sold that to get something a little more reliable to take on the long 5 hour commute to college. Settled on a very clean 2002 Volvo 70xc that had 96000 miles on it and I put 6000 on since August. This isn't a very popular car to offroad, since it is a car. However, I want to do a few modifications to keep it as my reliable commuter but to also take advantage of the awesome remote locations around me here in the mountains. There aren't many others who have done this to volvos, other than Young Satchel so this thread is for me to document the process. So far my list of "mods" include all led lights conversion, new suspension system, tune up, yakima crossbars, and extended rack, 40" light bar and 2 led pods, all weather mats, set of sparco terras, new brakes, navigation/stereo system, and tint all the way around for privacy.

Good Morning OB community!

Nick here ...from Dallas, Texas. I am Dallas Firefighter, Husband and new Dad to a cool baby boy. My wife and I have always tried to answer 'the call of the great outdoors' and had many hobbies and adventures pertaining to anything nature.
I grew up in this "flat and Khaki" state, but my heart has always been in the mountains. So, we frequent lakes, trails, and any state park as much as possible. Ha-Ha!
Been hiking and MTN biking on any trail I could find, as long as I can remember. We, recently, bought a GX460 and accidentally found some Overlanders that love that platform. So, I did some research and found this awesome community. I am a rookie at this, but am very eager to learn the craft. We already have a lot of gear for outdoor adventures. Just hoping to find good trails, tips and some local friends to enjoy the new found addiction!

Thank you, all, for everything that is put into OB!

Happy to be a part of a community of similar souls!

Hi all! My name is Kevin, and I am new to overlanding. I am in the process of building my 2017 Tacoma. I am originally from Michigan, and am currently living in San Diego. I moved out here in 99 when I joined the Navy, and have been out here pretty much ever since. I love what the area has to offer. I'm excited to get my rig to the point where I can consider it close to finished... but she's not there yet. I don't have a recent pic, but here's one from just after I put my roof rack on.

Hello all,

Rich here, I am located in the flat lands of NW Suburbs of Chicago. I have extensive background in motorsports and have worked in the tuning industry for a number of years runing marketing programs ( any one hear of AMS Performance?). I've done plenty of road course days however I am a total newb to overlanding and offroading. I've been doing plenty of research for the past few months and I am looking to get my feet wet with the some overlanding adventures. I am currenlty shopping for an off-road vehicle; on the fence between a used Diesel ZR2 or a JKU Rubicon, but leaning towards the ZR2 as the rig will have to double as a daily.

Just wanted to say hello, I am looking forward to chatting with some of you as I embark on my next automotive adventure.

Hey there, new here.
Location: Denver, CO
RIG: 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road
Experience: New to Overlanding but pumped to get started.

I'm in process of finalizing the build list for my Taco. Starting with a KB Voodoo rack and some other fun attachments.
Really looking forward to getting out and exploring CO with my kids this year. Any recommendations for easy trails I should hit up as a newbie?

Good morning everyone
I'm a new member, my name is Amory from Salem OR
I've been getting interested in overlanding, and exploring the OBDR. Last year I bought this 2002 Tahoe, which I am planning to work on this summer getting prepared for overlanding.
I'm no where near where I need to be, but I thought I'd join this community for tips, tricks, shared advice, and to find like minded people in my area. My plans would include my wife and son, and possibly a dual sport bike along with the Chevy Tahoe.
I know full size non-toyotas are not the normal fare, but I assume with the right tires, winch, lighting, etc. and gear the Tahoe will do what I need it to.
