Recently I made a trade for a M1102 Hmmwv trailer.20160820_084423.jpg
Since my offroad vehicle is a CUCV on Hmmwv wheels and tires with a pintle hitch and the military 12 pin trailer plug it makes for a good starting point. The M1102 trailer has hydraulic actuated brakes, front and rear stabilizers and an aluminum bed. Instead of ditching the bed I decided to build on top of it. 20160910_135808.jpg

On the inside I intend to wire 12v power off a 200AH battery and charge the battery with 2 100w solar panels. For sleeping arrangements I planned a futon style bed to maximize interior space.

Excellent build

are you planning any type of skylight in the ceiling and what material for the roof?

After the top was built I did the wiring. For lights inside I used truck bed lights outside I have 2 scene flood lights. I went with a 4 position switch to allow charging from my truck to the trailer batteries, or to run 12v completely on the truck or trailer. This will also allow me to jump start the truck off the trailer if necessary. The shore power is a simple setup basically a power strip and a marine battery charger.

Future additions will be 12v fridge, 200w solar panels on the poptop and increase the battery bank to 200ah.
