Why wouldn't you bring one on a trip? Any long trip in the middle of no where and it comes with me. Not just for safety aspect but for recreation aspect. if you're in california check out www.calguns.net. Always know your laws in which ever state you are in and or traveling too!

i agree cali can be a pain so can NY and a couple others but fed law un quoted of course says transport across state lines weapon should be secured away from the ammo ( you shouldn't be able to reach both at the same time) so in a technical sense and a lot oops caps lock that A LOT of RED TAPE the state can't stop you from transporting a lets say magazine defined by said state as illegal if its locked in a safe and they can not open and prove what it is because of federal law ( but lets be real keeping some what ever state legal mags for that specific trip would be wiser HAHA cuz who wants to deal with the RED tape of getting ur vehicle back and the weapons they decided to loose in the system....

well, as most people on here get, you do everything in acordance with "the law". if people sitting on the keyboard don't like what you do, tough doo-doo. do what you feel is right and accordance with the law and leave it at that. i have teen age sons that are big into social media and they feel they have to make EVERY action please those on social media....impossible. think for yourself and do what is right for YOU and blow everything else off. simple.

My best advise, don't let anyone under 35 vote for anything unless they can show you a hunting license and qualify with an M1 @ 300 yards. :-)

Picked up something today for our backwoods trips to go along with my Glock 20 w/ 220gr hard cast ammo.

The new Escort BTS Bullpup Shotgun in 12gauge.

That will certainly help prepare you for whatever Zombie Apocalypse you manage to find. :-)

Living in Texas, we are blessed with being able to freely exercise our Constitutional Rights. In addition, being a LTC holder, we are able to legally carry a firearm in many other states with our Texas license. Both my wife and I never travel without a firearm. Exercising due diligence in these trying times requires everyone to be responsible for their own safety. Calling 911, hoping that the authorities can or will arrive in time is not a plan. With our travels off the beaten path, it is even more important that we know what to do in any emergency, and afterward.

Be careful... Maryland can tag ya for a loaded magazine, each round in the magazine could be one count each of a loaded concealed deadly weapon...
When passing through these type of BLUE states(you know who I am referring to) I'd suggest unloading everything and locking it up separately. Or, don't go to these states. That's what we do.

That's a loaded magazine period. Whether or not it is loaded into the firearm does not matter. Many states such as NY, Maryland, etc, are like that.

Also, if travelling through New Jersey don't even think about bringing hollow points across the state line with you. Hollow points are illegal in NJ.

When travelling for work I always look at handgunlaws.us website and check the laws of the states I'll be travelling through. If I have to travel through Maryland, NY or places like those, I unload my mags, put the mags in a separate lockable case from the ammo, and then separate the gun frame from the slide and lock them up separately. Seems a little overkill, but at least they can't say that I had a loaded operable firearm with me if I get pulled over.

Anything is legal as long as you don't get caught
Yeah. But get locked up with this crap going on, might take a week to go before a magistrate. Even on video, they set bail at $50k, even trying to find a bondsman if you have $5000 to put down...nope. I'll just stay out of these places...

At this time, when more people are becoming first time gun owners I'd like to remind them of a few things.

Time to get some training. Get your concealed licence. Frequent practice . Get first aid training with emphasis in gunshot wounds. Don't wait until an emergency to think about buying ammo.

Getting some liability insurance is also a good idea.

USCCA offers insurance as does US Law Shield Both are cheap insurance should you be forced to legally defend yourself of another.

I've had Us law Shield for many years and have been happy with their product.
