Looking at first serious rig. Not sure this is the right forum so let me know who I should ask.

Found a low mileage diesel Isuzu Bighorn 1992 for sale. Thoughts? Recommendations? Warnings? Buying advice?

Isuzu are pretty rare here so parts availability is a concern. Other than that can anyone speak to their reliability? Found a small lift from ARB. Can any Isuzu gurus lend me some advice?

I know a lot about the 4ze1 engine but only second hand info about diesel's. But I can tell you the drivetrain and transmissions are great. The mua transmission is extremely stout and so is the 12 bolt rear end. I have the terra low gears in my mua and an ARB locker in rear end and wheel it hard. Check for rust in back portions of frame especially near front leaf spring mounts. Most parts are available on rockauto and planetisuzoo has a lot of info and great classified section for parts. As was stated, I would get it if it ran good. Check the coolant for oil and oil for coolant.

Wifey used to have an Isuzu Rodeo. We LOVED that thing!! It was a luxury edition, so it was kinda fancy, but it was a tank!

Then, some dumb@$$ put power steering fluid in the brake fluid reservoir & ruined the whole ABS system. It was an older unit, so we ended up trading it in for a Subaru Forester (which is now gone).

But if that hadn't of happened, we'd still have that Rodeo.

FWIW, YMMV
