Interstate 5x8 Enclosed Multi-Use Trailer

i have a friend with a set of walls that he said he'd sell to me. he has the straight walls and he wants to get the tapered ones that slant outwards from the awning for his batwing.

i'm thinking of making an setup to close off one section for a shower/toilet room since i don't have a separate one that i fit in very well. being 6'4" and a little husky doesn't help. the quick setup poop tent thing i got online is made for someone under 6' tall, but more like 5'8" and under. i'm kicking myself for not acting faster on a shower room that mounts like the awning, there was one on offer up for like $50, but it sold before i decided i wanted it.

I built out a new cargo trailer and had similar issues to address. I went with a 16' V-nose with the extra 6" of height, so I don't have the same height restrictions as your build, but maybe some of the ideas can still apply...

we do a lot of cold weather camping, so I decided to at least have an option of an indoor shower for those times it is VERY cold and windy out. I also run a diesel heater, so I decided to drill one 5" hole in the floor up at the front of the trailer. I made a custom shower pan with a drain that fit into the hole so my gray water can drain directly outside, like it would with a shower tent...OR...I could also put a 5 gal bucket under the trailer and catch the water if I'm in an area where any drainage from a camper would cause problems. I then used basically a hoola-hoop with a shower curtain mounted to the ceiling to keep water from splashing everywhere. I can set the whole thing up in under 5 minutes and take it down during the day for more room or when traveling. I can also use the drain hole to vent the exhaust of the diesel heater, so it does double duty.

I've seen you address a spare tire mount a couple of times, and I would go with a frame mounted holder. RV accessory places have them and I think there are some on Amazon, too. its just a mount that goes under the trailer and bolts to a frame member and then sticks out past the trailer a bit and 90 degrees up with a plate to bolt the spare tire to. if you try to mount to the wall of the trailer, you will need a lot of reenforcent and then attach that in a way where the weight and vibration will be transferred to the frame, rather than the thin wall material. a lot of work.

its been a while since I posted on that build thread, but I think you did post a couple times on it, so maybe you are already familiar with what I did for an indoor shower. you are tall and that might not work too well in a shorter trailer, but I would rather be hunched over than freeze outside taking a shower. do the shower annex and have the set up for inside...good to have options

My shower is off the driver side rear. I turned the shower so it faces rearward. straight shot from awning to bathroom. I also made custom panels for both ends to completely seal the areas off on both ends. I don't know why none of the awning companies make panels for the ends. when I ask they say the same thing "we never needed them". Then they look at me like I'm crazy for asking. Don't bother asking what material they use so you can make panels to match. They all tell you they don't know and its up to the "special" guy that sews the panels. The two different companies i talked to acted like it was someone working out of their garage popping out a dozen sets a week.

i hear you grubworm, but the shower is mostly going to be warmer weather and dude wipes for the cold weather. i just have a rinse kit for now and it works well. i like being able to put hot water in there. some of the spots i go during the cold months have decent bathrooms and showers available.

spare tire mount wise i was looking at the frame mount near the front/tongue area or do one that is mounted underneath. its all about finding the right place that won't get in the way or get hung up on something when on the trail.
