For those who have never been to Carlsbad cavern, going near White City, or not sure if it is worth the stop.

Is Guadalupe NP still open? Its closeby and def worth a look. El Capitan (the Texas one) is pretty great!

NM is in lockdown essentially, again. We are going to a yurt next week outside ALBQ in Estancia but it is remote and isolated. I plan on doing Carlsbad in February, so I hope they are back open again. Caverns I get why they close it, but other NP's? I don't get. Outdoors. Dispersed. Nanny state bullshit.

As for camping around Roswell when NM does open back up? Bottomless Lakes SP. 15 mins E/SE of Roswell. It is a series of small lakes where the water table collapsed. Crystal clear water for 40-50' down. Don't think I have ever stayed in a cleaner campground.

Thanks for the tip on the Bottomless Lakes SP, it looks like my son could have some fun there.

They just updated their site today and list the caverns as closed. :(
Damn governor here is a lunatic. She wont be around next term in two years.
She has offended even the Democrats here.(except the Santa Fe crowd)
