Depending upon the route, there are places to fill up. I'd wait until the route is published and go from there. At least some of us carry extra fuel for the group to use if needed.

Lynn,
The route will be planed so you dont need to have extra fuel. But you will need extra money because it isn't cheep there.

One good rule for DV is always cary 5 extra gallons.

It looks like the current plan involves jumping off from Trona first thing November 3? Are we thinking that we’ll meet up and camp together November 2? Trona is a long way from damn nearly everywhere.

Dispersed camping every night unless one of the back country cabins are open.

Close to Ridgecrest. When I go to DV I drive the first day( 7 hrs-390 miles) from home and camp at Trona Pinnacles. Roughly 350 mi from Sonora. I fuel up and buy water in Ridgecrest, the Fastrip station used have the best fuel prices, corner of 395 and W Wilson. Then to Wally World on 395 for all the stuff I forgot...........

About how long/difficult will day one be. I will be driving to the meeting point same day. So 6ish hours on the road to make the 8am meet up time. Just need to know how much caffeine I'll need for the day !

Would be coming from the Bay Area via Tioga Pass, is there a spot in Death Valley where I can meet up with you, so I don't have to drive all the way to Trona and then back track?

I’m new at this and I don’t want to take someone else’s place if I’m not qualified, vehicle or experience. If this is really a 05 moderate 3 or 06 Hard 1, then I should withdraw.
Death Valley NP DIFFICULTY 3 - MODERATE 1
OB Trail Ratings notes 03 MODERATE 1 – Trail consisting of loose rocks, dirt, and sand with some slickrock surfaces, mud holes possible, no steps higher than 12″. 4WD is required, aggressive tires a plus.
However, the Rally Point Details notes: the High clearance, 4-wheel drive, sliders, off-road tires required. Lockers are helpful. You need to be self-sustaining with fuel and water. There is fuel and water in Beatty.
