We stayed at site 62. No cellphone service. There are restrooms at Bear Gap picnic area. Just a short drive to it. Fuel and supplies could be had after a short drive to Harvey's Mini Mart.

There was very little road traffic. Site 61 is within 75 yards...but we couldn't tell they were there

Site 63 is up at the other end if the road.

Stream nearby with fish.

Will be using this site again. Seemed best for tent camping...but you could get a small trailer into it and had a pretty level area to camp in the vehicle

Unfortunately I am sitting by the campfire right now at Blue Knob State Park.

@riss800 I will not be in that area this weekend.

We were going to be in Moshannon State Forest...but the camping was booked.

If by chance we would take a drive I will be sure to look you up though.16009953504568538293637642873915.jpg

@riss800 site 61 is one of our favorites. It has the lean to.

We camped at 62. It was a great spot. 61 ia the one my son wanted. I have a few scout pics of it in my threads...but here is one.20200621_130610.jpg
There is no cell service...but there is a restroom nearby at Bear Gap picnic area and a general store not to far in Beaver springs for supplies, food and gas.

@DevilDodge thanks for the information and the picture! It really put my girlfriend mind at ease on how it would look and made her feel al little more comfortable. It will be her first time dispersed camping. When I said the site had a lean-to, she joked and said “oh it has a murder shack” and all I could do is laugh.

Definitely shoot me a message if your plans change.

I had my 14 year old daughter and 7 year old son there. They loved it..we were at site 62. There is very little traffic there. Just a short drive over to poe paddy and there are tons of people though.

You will have a good time.

Safe travels.

Had a great night on Friday at site 61 in BESF got a late start and had to set up in the dark but that is ok. First time taking the dogs and they liked it as well. Also, on the way out Saturday we drove Henstep Trail. It is a nice trail with some challenging/rocky climbs going west to East. Nothing my 4Runner couldn’t handle at an almost stock height (I have only changed tire size).

Spent another weekend in the Forest. Same place as last time. It is much more green and muddy.

A guy slid off the road...not sure how...but he managed. Took 2 wreckers to get him out.

We packed up the pouring rain at 37 degrees. Still better than being near civilization.

We also found a geocache near where we camped.
