Hey guys and girls,
We are planning on heading to Chech republic and Slovakia this summer. We do not like campsites very much and were wondering what the standpoint is with regards to wildcampig or bivouac in these 2 countries. As far as I know by law it is not allowed but is it tolerated? For...
Non of the above is legal in Belgium if you want to drive on the road. You could get away with regearing and lockers since this is not visible :tongueclosed:
If you have a pickup and a Belgian VAT nr and can proof you need the pickup for work, you can register it as "light truck" pay almost no...
LostinChaos,
In terms of overlanding and off-road driving I'm afraid Belgium is one of the worst places. It is almost everywhere forbidden to drive other than on pavement. Forest is a no go not on Flanders not in Walonia. The best option is France to do some Soft-Road driving.
In terms of...
Small update.
After some research and consideration we bought a satellite communicator. We did not go with the garmin inReach because of 2 reasons. 1 the device itself was way overpriced (IMHO) and 2 the plans do not give you as much value for the money as the competition, 3 you do not get to...
So, simply put, there is no simple solution for this simple problem.
Only expensive and somewhat complicated solutions.
1 a simple satellite messenger (inreach mini, zoleo, ...)
2 a satellite phone
3 starlink
All with their downsides and limited use cases.
So with all our technology, is it...
Question: cellphone signal boosters; who has one and what type are you using?
While camping in "remote" locations in europe we often find ourselfs without (or very unreliable) cellphone coverage. While this is great most of the time (no disturbance) it also comes with its downsides.
We have the...
Hey Mikael, yes there are a few of us here, BE members. What region are you from? The map shows you near Charleroi. But there seems to be a cluster of members there that do not actually live there (as far as I know), my guess is that if you do not specify your home location it puts everyone near...
It seems that the "best" option will be a diesel heater with a kerosine heater as a backup for when it is not that cold or for the very quiet nights.
We currently do not have a second battery so diesel heater is out of the question. But as winter is gone (or was never here) we did not made a...
Yes, but at what cost really? Have you have any numbers or maybe a webshop? Have no clue where to start looking.
And an other disadvantage of the Diesel heater is the 12v power consumption.
A little bit of extra warmth can make winter camping a whole lot more fun.
So therefore I'm looking at some possibilities.
To sum it up I have 3 possible solutions:
1) a diesel heater
2) a kerosine (Petroleum) heater
3) a wood burning stove
Those 3 are (as far as I know) the only possibilities...

Hey Jan,
No worrys about the Saab, they are very cabable and can make good overland vehicles. A good set of tires will do wonders toghether with some practice and knowing the vehicle.
For the gear, I see you live in the netherlands, http://www.4x4life.nl/jouw 4x4 webshop. is a nice place to get...
Fore me the topic on merch is more pressing than ever since as of July 1st the rules will change again and even on packet values lower than €20 we will need to pay taxes and custom fees. So, an Eu based shop NOT UK!! is especially important
