    Skottle First Cook - Issue

Good question. Could be as simple as what is available at the time of production? Maybe something to do with the recent shut-down? Just my guess... of course.

    Skottle First Cook - Issue

I actually touched base with Tembo and they also said it had to do with cold v hot rolled steel. They believe I rec'd cold so they sent me a hot rolled steel version to replace it at no charge. I can attest to their customer service where they responded timely and were attentive to my...

    Skottle First Cook - Issue

It's just as you put it. I took off all the old seasoning and did 3 bakes where it looks great, then I do a cook and it all comes off even at low heat. I've repeated this now 2-3 times and it never takes. I still use it to cook and think it is what it is. I can't use it as a stand alone item. I...

    Skottle First Cook - Issue

Hi Everyone, Over the holidays I decided to pull the trigger on the Tembo Tusk Skottle. Today was my first time using and I experienced issues. The season in the center flaked off into the food. I cooked fried rice for lunch and I could see flakes in the food and it tasted funny. After doing...

    Solar Charge Controllers

Where are you mounting your PWM/MMPT solar controller? Is it your engine bay or maybe part of a mobile kit that you break out when you need it? If in the engine bay area, any concerns about water proofing or excess engine heat near the unit (specially if cheaper unit like Renogy)?

Have to skottle my kit now.

I've always used the Coleman two burner, but I've been drooling over a Skottle. Its posts like this that make me want to pull the trigger!

Who else brings a grill?-1 cooking device to rule them all!

+1 for the Coleman dual burner stove. Might not be the best kit/brand for a dual burner, but it worked for me over the years. I've flirted with the idea of the Skottle and Genesis Basecamp Two Burner System. Both are high end items and maybe I'll treat myself one day!

    Solar Charge Controllers

I really like the versatility and quality of the Redarc products, but they are out of my budget. I'm currently leaning toward the Renogy Adventurer PWN 30A. I'll add a blue-tooth module later if I like the way it works. Looks like that model come in two flavors; regular and one that adds...

    Solar Charge Controllers

I am interested in adding solar option to top-off the battery on my rig. I don't run a dual battery and after powering various device when being out for a couple days, the voltage drop on my battery concerns me. While researching PWN and MPPT controllers, something I cannot find is if the...

    Areas/Routes Sequoia NF (from L.A.)

Last weekend I ended up going a different route. I was concerned about assess/finding a site to camp and the general amount of people. Instead of heading to the area of Sequoia above Lake Isabella to Kennedy Meadow, we ended up going south of the lake. There is a patch of Sequoia that covers the...

    Areas/Routes Sequoia NF (from L.A.)

Going up this last minute is difficult. Especially getting up there on Friday lowers our odds of finding a spot. I'm going to pack to stay in case we find something, but we might end up just going up to explore and coming back the same day. I'm going to head up the 395 and go west on Nine Mile...

Skottle v. Coleman Dual Burner Stove

It's good to see the Skottle is valued by those who have picked one up. I also see you can easily get by with the tried-and-true Coleman. I'd go the DIY route, but I have too many unfinished projects. Thanks everyone for your input, this has been super helpful!

Skottle v. Coleman Dual Burner Stove

Now that the new adjustable leg skottle has come out, I've really been contemplating picking one up. I am still using a Coleman dual burner flip open propane stove. The skottle appears to be a step up, but boy are they pricey (I mean an investment). How many of you are still using the Coleman...

    Areas/Routes Sequoia NF (from L.A.)

I am hoping to get out wit the family this weekend on an last minute overnight in Sequoia NF. The area is so big I don't know where to start with a plan in Gaia. Can anyone suggest some trails with an overnight area? Some additional details below: I'd be going South to North (from Los Angeles...

Has anyone checked out OnX Offroad yet?

I use onX Maps for hunting and it's great. I tried the Off-Road version. It has some trails for CA, has layers, features like offline maps, and it's easy to navigate. I would have it as one more tool in the chest if it was included with my onX Hunts. I also tried AllTrails as way to find local...
