Airing Down Tires for “Lower Profile” Tires?

Good day, all! Getting new tires tomorrow and after much deliberation, decided to keep to stock size on my Jeep WK. I deemed it excessive to make the needed changes to my Jeep to squeeze in larger tires given that I don’t do any rock crawling or anything like that and it’s my daily driver and...

    Offical Piggy Bank Savings Thread

I’ve got a simple, modest build I’m doing. Just got the roof rack done. Next two small projects include permanently mounting my CB antenna, then making a small storage area for the back end floor space for some gear I’d like to have locked up and out of sight so it can stay there full time...

This rig needs an OverlandBound Emblem....

The water bag is great! I’m too young to remember it, but on some of my early camping trips my dad had a water bag hanging on the bumper! I don’t know, but I think too many of us today think we are coming up with great stuff for overlanding. More often than not, a lot of it has been done...

Camp stoves and lanterns in California

Oh, yes, always a fire permit these days. One, want to have one for camping in areas that are not campgrounds, second, due to drought, even some campgrounds I’ve been to require fire permits. And, like you say, their free and informative. And reading your point about propane fire pits, that...

Camp stoves and lanterns in California

Just a quick question, in CA due to some recent drought, I was wondering if the state has imposed restrictions on the use of camp stoves and lanterns that use white gas. I think I remember having been in areas where that had been the case due to the serious drought, not certain if state imposed...

06 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plans and Questions

So, after thumbing through the websites mentioned and a search seeking info on 2006 Jeep GC ride height specs, I was wrong, my vehicle has not settled. According to specs, stock GCs of this year were 18” from mid hub to bottom fender for the front, and 19.25” from mid hub to bottom of rear...

06 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plans and Questions

That pic is basically what I’m going for...an off-road capable vehicle without being too overly overlandingish looking. Question, when you say you used OME HD plus 2” spacers, were you referring to wheel spacers or 2” spacers on top of the longer springs? Sent from my iPad using Overland Bound...

06 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plans and Questions

You bring up some excellent points! It does seem to make sense that if springs wear to replace with a taller spring rather than just putting a spacer on a worn spring. I would guess with a longer shock to go with them, too. I had a ZJ once and there are times I wish I still had it. WKs seem...

06 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plans and Questions

Ok, so I am in the early stages of working up my 06 GC — my daily driver — as an overland vehicle, too. I’ve just added in the last week my roof rack — a 61.5” x 49.5” Front Runner and next up are tires/shocks/springs and a bit of a lift. Tires are getting tired and likely need replacing this...

Overland Expo 2018 WEST Caravan - SF Bay Area Departure - 05/15/2018

Checking the dates for this, there are two start dates. First mention is May 16th, second mention shows May 15th. Which day is it?

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Build

Ok, so I am in the early stages of working up my 06 GC — my daily driver — as an overland vehicle, too. I’ve just added in the last week my roof rack — a 61.5” x 49.5” Front Runner (can be seen here in a quick test drive: ) and next up are tires/shocks/springs and a bit of a lift. Tires are...

Beer and Rigs SF Bay Area Monthly Meetup - 11/04/2017

Dang it! I hope I can make it...moving that day so may not make morning, but maybe by noon. Would be great to see everyone’s rig. I’m early in my planning stages for what I want to do with my Jeep and would be great to see what people are doing regardless of vehiclevtype!

Jeep WK Antenna Mounting Solutions?? Help...:-(

Good evening, all! And thank you all for being out there for us! At Any rate, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee WK. I'd like to mount a CB Antenna to it. I don't have any bull bars or steel bumpers to mount to, so this isn't an option. I ordered one of these mounts...

Looking for Jeep Mechanic Near SF

    Overlanding is not Elitist!

Totally subjective, but good ribbing I've seen is usually all in fun! I know someone who is fixing up a Ford Mustang. I give him crap for it being a Ford with the usual Failed On Race Day or Found On Road Dead and he hits me back with Can Hear Every Valve Rattling On Long Extended Trips...

    Overland "Survival"

His chats with Paul Marsh are full of information but are dull. I always assumed that they were both really relaxed as ASPW and Marsh were out on the trail when they did those. Very good info, regardless. Sent from my iPhone using Overland Bound Talk

    Jeep WK's

Awesome! I need to see if I can get some headlights like yours into my year WK. Those look nice, better than aftermarkets I've seen. How's the geometry using just spacers? Might be an option for me in the interim. Maybe.
