    Thoughts on the Garmin Montana

I just purchased a Montana i750 (didn't get it yet.) Mine will be plugged into the Jeep most of the time. I also subscribed to Geos ($50 a year for my wife and me). Our hikes would be less than 4 hours so I am not overly concerned about battery life. If my hike times get much longer, I would...

    Moab - Canyonlands and Arches

We did Chicken Corners, Dome Plateau and Cameo Cliffs prior to taking the class. Barlow suggested these trails, they are all pretty good. Most take 4 to 5 hours.

    Moab - Canyonlands and Arches

We visited Moab for the first time this past year (Summer 2020). I put my wife into a Barlow Adventures offroad driving course. Nadi was an excellent instructor. You can contact him directly here: 4x4guide.com We learned everything we needed to know about driving trails in that area. We...

Shiftpod? shiftpod mini? none at all? any owners out there?

Knowing them... I doubt it. I believe they do a lot of testing before making that kind of change. If my memory is right, that product should be out any day now.

Shiftpod? shiftpod mini? none at all? any owners out there?

I spoke to shiftpod a few months ago about their new SHIFTPODIII-XL. They told me that all new versions will have arms that are extendable so that it packs down to be shorter. I seem to remember 25% shorter. -B

Electric Winch. Are they necessary for overlanding/touring?

I watch Dr Poole use a jack like device.... the winch actually makes more sense.... But yes, I get it, you got to do what you got to do.

Electric Winch. Are they necessary for overlanding/touring?

Ramsey does not have medical grade winches.... I checked their website..... LOL -B

Electric Winch. Are they necessary for overlanding/touring?

Hello... NICU... This is Brokedown from Warn. I have a new line of medical-grade winches.

Electric Winch. Are they necessary for overlanding/touring?

We did a ton of trails all over CO, NM, and UT. I used the winch twice. The first time was to rescue a side by side that was sliding off of a cliff and the other was to pull a pickup truck out of a ditch. Needed? No. Piece of mind.... heck yes! -B

Can I Overland in this Rig?

That is exactly how I was thinking. The truck is a base and the Jeep is for exploring. The jeep would have a small kitchen and a tent for overnight stays... but most of the time, we would be in the truck/camper.

Can I Overland in this Rig?

I like this. I've been looking at DRW F450s with a 7.3 diesel. Small problem... I already own the Jeep and it is ready to go with all the options that I would add (2-inch lift, 33" tires, winch, etc.) My main concern with the big rig (mostly because I am clueless on the subject) is getting...

Can I Overland in this Rig?

' That would be a great rig too. Truck for living and the wheeler for exploring. Have you taken that rig on the Pan American in South America? -B

Can I Overland in this Rig?

I would love to do the Pan American highway but my wife is unwilling to "live" in the Jeep.... While in Taos this summer, we passed a rig much like the one in the picture. She said, why can't we do the Pan American highway in a rig like that? The plan would be to basecamp in the truck...

    Colorado Springs - 10/15 to 10/18

Thanks! A really great view of the peaks and valleys is what we are looking for. Someone recommended China Wall. I think there is a bypass for the hardest parts? -B

    SW Florida

We live in Ft Myers. We spend our summers someplace other than FL. This year, we are in Taos, NM. Looking forward to doing some camping when we get back. Maybe in the Fred C. Babcock/Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area -B

    Colorado Springs - 10/15 to 10/18

My best friend (we called him Pudge) passed away almost 2 years ago. When we met, we were dating sisters. We eventually married (and divorced) the sisters but we remained very close. He was 3 years older than me and as a 13-year old, I looked up to him. He taught me how to ride motorcycles...

    New to off roading

I put my wife through an offroad driving class in Moab. Nadi had her doing things that I would not have attempted before we took the class (she drove, I was the passenger.) It was well worth the money... in fact, I would say it was the best money that we spent so far... and that includes money...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Dropped the Jeep off at the dealer. They think it has an oil cooler leak. 64,000 miles... 4,000 over the 5 year/60,000... Thank goodness that I got the lifetime warranty. -B

    Drop in stove.

I ordered one and liked it so much that I ordered the bag, the stand, and the griddle. All of those products are of high quality too! We were considering a Blackstone griddle for our RV lot in FL. Now we don't need one...

Am I going to have a hard time (Utah)

Ouray is AWESOME. Montrose is nice, but it is big city compared to Ouray. Ouray has a ton of offroad trails and camping. If you plan on doing a lot of trails, get the Colorado Backroads and 4-Wheel Drive Trails book. It is well worth the $35. -B
