Help/Advice With Trip Home Via TAT/GAT/App Byway...

Sorry, I can't help with those sections of the TAT. I did the Ga Traverse in 2019 as well as the southern section of MABDR. The only difficulties on the Ga Traverse will be if it's wet. Some sections can be slick and rutted. Several sections are rocky and rough, not like "rock crawlin" but...

Suggestions for secluded TRAILER camping locations NEAR MAX PATCH NC

Next best area that I'm aware of is not near Max Patch but is fun will be the area south of Blowing Rock. Look for a network of county gravel roads which leave Blowing Rock going due south on Globe Road. This area works west to the western side of Linville Gorge and Old Hwy 105 which is also...

Suggestions for secluded TRAILER camping locations NEAR MAX PATCH NC

I'm not sure what you're looking for exists in that area. Partially from lack of flat ground and also it's proximity to the Appalachian Trail. If such a site exists, those who know about it probably won't share it on a public forum........... My best suggestion is Round Mountain CG which is due...

    Rotopax &Maxtraxx to OEM racks.

Looks good to me! I'd leave the bolts long and double nut them.

    Any Exped Megamat Max Owners?

If there were any "vigorous activities" in the center you would probably get a gap. Otherwise, with a sheet sack or a couple of elastic bands they would stay together fine. Your post made me wonder a little, If you're putting 60 inches of mattress in a 58 inch wide tent you will obviously be...

    Real world regear input?

For 5,000 miles per year, the only logical option is shocks and tires for Momma plus the $800 diff replacement. But what does logic have to do with this? I sure do like my 4.88's with front and rear lockers on my Taco.

    Tire Opinions

OK, I'll throw in my 2 cents worth. My personal experience is all on Toyota's, 80 series LC, Tacomas and 4Runners. My professional experience is from being a tire dealer for over 40 years. All around can't beat it is the BFG T/A KO2. There are two short falls of the BFG in my experience...

    DIY cargo deck plate advice

As J.W. mentioned above, plywood, even Baltic Birch doesn't like water and can warp or delaminate. A better material is MDO (medium density overlay) which is an exterior grade plywood. It is commonly known as sign board as it has a smooth, finished surface. Google it for a better description...

    Whoopie Recovery Straps

Interesting. I made my own a couple of years ago. It's only been used twice but worked perfectly. The bag is a great idea!

Shiftpod? shiftpod mini? none at all? any owners out there?

We zip the floor in and never take it out until we return home. It's pretty easy to do but there is no need to take it in and out daily.

Shiftpod? shiftpod mini? none at all? any owners out there?

The included pack bag is a light canvas and would not provide any water resistance if you're going to haul it on top and in my opinion would not hold up to flapping in the wind if you on the highway very long.

Shiftpod? shiftpod mini? none at all? any owners out there?

Just seeing this........ As stated elsewhere, we have the ShiftPod2. It is huge in all aspects, packed, on the ground, etc. Plenty of room inside as you have over 6' headroom and about a 12x12 floor area. As tents go, it is very wind resistant but if you're in a really windy area, you will hear...

    Southeast Idaho and west Wyoming

I'm from the southeast too so you should probably take this with a grain of salt. We spent about a month wandering in the area you're talking about in September and early October 2020. Much of it was dodging forest fires but you shouldn't have that problem in May. Depending upon the road, you...
