On Board Air from CO2 Tanks

I went with an SCBA tank, and a spare O2 regulator from an extra oxy / acetylene setup I have. All i needed to do was swap the standard regulator inlet fitting for a CGA-347 fitting. Then I swapped the 1/4" np male/male nipple where the O2 hose mounts, for a female air QD with male threads. It...

On board air or portable tank

I run an aluminum/carbon SCBA tank with an Victor O2 welding regulator. Filled, my tank pressure is 4K psi and my line pressure is 100 psi. It provides multiple fills for my tires, is extremely light and much faster than an onboard compressor. I keep a small 12v compressor onboard as a backup...

Has anyone mounted a bladder tank for water under their roof rack?

I second what has been said above. I wouldn't want the extra weight on top of the vehicle. As for volume, i can carry 16 gallons and have never needed that much, even on multi day trips with no refill. Also, the Nemo shower is a great piece of gear and has been one of the best things I have...

Opinions on Tepui roof top tents?

I picked up my Ayer at REI, at a used gear sale for $700. It was used once and in like new condition. 3 years later, I could not be happier with the purchase. Convenient, light enough that i can easily load and unload it from the roof by myself, and makes for a great view. Much like others said...

    Series 80 roof rack questions

Hello, Is anyone running Yakima 1A towers & bars on their series 80? If so, have you tried mounting an RTT? I was thinking of doing two sets, with one set of bars and towers for a basket and another set of bars and towers for the RTT. The hitch in my plan was yestrday, when a tech line rep from...

    Solar Panel Wattage

I run a 100w Goal Zero with a 4:1 input cord, so I can add my flexible 20w panel if I want. Plenty of collection to charge the fridge battery and power LED camp lights.

Wanted Series 80 parts - northern CA

Hello everyone, a 91 series 80 ended up in my driveway last weekend and it needs a few bits. Mainly headlights and a front bumper. The driver's side running board is also missing, however I am guessing most people remove them and add something sturdier anyway. The driver's side front fender is a...

Best way to mount Samsung tab a8 to a 06 Jeep tj

I have an 06 and run RAM mounts for my GoPro, phone and iPad, and I couldn't be happier. I use a different mounting system to attach it to the vehicle, however the mount itself is rock solid.

    Solar and additional batteries

I am happy to share the system I have in/on my rig. I opted for Goal Zero equipment, which may or may not offer the best bang for the buck, however I like the integration and plug n play aspect of their products. I am using mine to power a 42 quart fridge and assorted accessories at camp, such...

    MSR Dromedary bag...10-years on.

I have 2 and they have served me well, for years. I find the water to also have a lass palatable taste than a traditional jug or Nalgene bottle. Beyond that, they have far exceeded my long term expectations.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I have a Smittybilt 9,500k and a 10k. Both have been reliable and the price was very reasonable. Additionally, both are steel cable. I like the safety benefit of synthetic, however I passed on it due to expense as the fact that my winches are exposed to UV light 365 days a year. Obviously a...

    Rubicon Express Suspension

I have a 3.5" short arm kit on my 06 TJ. It is the only lift kit that I have used, however it has worked without any problems. The only additional change I made, was to add an adjustable rear track bar to re-center my rear axle.

Camp stove advice for plans for future global overlanding (Coleman Dual Fuel 424?)

I am currently running a dual fuel Coleman dual burner, with great results. In addition, I run a Jet Boil Flash, for hot water. The combination has worked out really nicely and I have yet to run across a better system for my needs. The flash system is lightweight, compact and ridiculously fast...

    What size fridge?

If you plan meals and shop wisely, you will be surprised by what what you can get by with. I run a 42 qt and it comfortably works for two people, for 5 days. It really just depends or how many perishable items you want to take on your trip. Weather also comes into play, with winter trips being...

    Water setups

I use a 16 gallon tank from Class A Customs (amazon). It works like a charm and provides plenty of water for several days. It is currently configured as a gravity flow system, however I have a 5 gpm pump, which I may add. I am considering saving the pump, for pumping from a source such as a...
