Had some fun scouting an alternate road to my favorite offroading area near Bowman Lake.
The ruts were up to 16" deep and things start to go really wrong when you end up with a tire on the wrong side of the rut and a steep slope on one side.... Heheh
Otherwise I spent most of the time acting...
You know you spend too much time looking at overlanding rigs when you start seeing overlanding gear on vehicles that are clearly not overlanders....
Driving through downtown Sacramento yesterday morning I saw an SUV about 20 cars ahead of me and from that distance I thought I saw a big roof top...
I really like both tires but in different ways. From what you describe I'd go with the Wildpeak in a P265/70/17. It's only a tiny bit shorter than the 255/75/17 and it will perform better off-road and in deeper snow. If you were really concerned about fuel economy and ride smoothness I'd have...
Oops, forgot you had the diesel. The 4.10s and the stock ratio would definitely work well and be more efficient which is nice for total range. If I had the diesel that's probably the route I'd go. With the 2017+ V6 I wouldn't hesitate to go 4:56.
I was hesistant to reccommend 4.56s because it sounds like such a huge jump but it's really not, especially with our 8spds. The OEM gearset is so high it's borderline silly. The Taco guys do 4.88s at minimum and even 5.29s when they go up to 35s.
Check out Max's install and thoughts.
This widowmaker has been blocking vehicle access on this side of the Preserve for 3yrs. I finally had enough certified help today that it was time to remove it. I used my Motomoric 30'x3" recovery strap and D shackle hitch receiver. The road was steep, wet and muddy so I was trying to keep from...

Snow play day. Ran from Dutch Flat to Hwy 20 on Lowell Hill Road (10miles or so).
Once we got back on Hwy 20 I noticed a guy on the side of the road doing something to his front tire so I pulled along side to see if he was ok. Turns out one of the links on his snow chains had snapped. So...

Lucked out. :) I would have rubbed the liquid with my fingers and smelled it. If that didn't pan out I probably would have tasted it. Shocking I'm not dead yet. lol
