Yes a Transit can handle cross axle fun

I not-so-secretly do. He posted that they added TrueTracs front and rear, while not a full locker I'd be surprised if they now plan to remove them and add a selectable locker or something of the sort. -TJ

Did your friend add the Raptor 8.8" up front and the TrueTracs front and rear? -TJ

Another Concern For Safety at a Trailhead: Bluetooth Devices

Interesting. As it turns out almost everywhere I "Overland" signal is poor/non-existent so I tend to have my phone off or in airplane mode anyway. However, sometimes I bring a small Bluetooth speaker and play music I previously downloaded, so I'd leave a BT signature. That said, Class 1...

    Should I change vehicles?

What about keeping the Ridgeline, or trading it in on an even more daily driving friendly vehicle (like an Accord, if you want to stay with Honda) and getting a dedicated Overland rig? There are obvious downsides (two vehicles to keep insured, registered, maintained, in fresh tires/brakes/etc.)...

    2019 Ford Ranger

I dig the Ranger looks, and HoosierT's is pretty damn nice! I wouldn't give too much salt to what Edmunds has to say about it either. I think it's a good, capable platform that has some serious advantages over the aging Tacoma (like the motor and 10 speed). It has drawbacks too, which are...

Does East Coast Gear Supply do a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal on their bolt-in front WJ Dana 44s? :p -TJ

    Lift kit and wheel size

It looks like you already got some great advice, and the short answer is "yes." Now, do you NEED a long-arm for Overlanding? No, no you don't. But at the lift you're at the short arms do start to run into funky geometry especially as the suspension cycles. You'll get a better on-road ride...

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

Thanks a ton! I'm really going to have to consider this option - I really like the look and agree on not adding the weight. -TJ

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

Those are hand-calculated based on Google or other GPS distances. If I use the trip computer even just for mileage not actual MPG it comes out lower. -TJ

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Yeah... need to get a few things sorted on the grey WJ (like a winch, matching spare, bumpers front 'n back) then it's ON! -TJ

On which one, the grey WJ? -TJ

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Man, that looks like a great trip - I have to join you on some of these next year. And good on ya for saving the cat. I'm not a cat person, but that will always be a very special cat for you. -TJ

    2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo

I really enjoy your thread, and these insights - thanks for keeping the posts going! Some of my thoughts... I know you're thinking about just the 3" IRO springs with a 1/2" spacer and their long arms, skids etc... but why not just go with the full 4" Rock Link kit (front Long Arm, rear stock...

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

This one will do right around 20 MPG if I hold it to 70-75 (hand calculated, I haven't corrected the speedo for the 35"s). It starts to drop off quickly after 75 MPH. With the 60 gallon fuel tank my unloaded range is around 1,200 freeway miles: This one I need to hand-calculate a freeway...

    ATV's and Overlanding ....

This is one of the RZRs I've had: It obviously was a 4-seat, but I deleted the rear seat and added storage as well as fuel and water. It ran a 33x10.5" tire and would go just about anywhere. We geared-down the final drive in the trans about 10% which made the gearing about like stock...
