Sounds like your truck will be in great shape. First thing I would add is communications and if going solo probably a ham and in reach type device if things go sideways. Good research and mapping tools as well.
We have a 2015 JKU Rubicon with a 3.5 inch AEV lift and a 2010 Ford Raptor bone stock. Both are daily drivers and are comfortable for long hauls that are put into camp service depending so all or our gear must be interchangeable. Now that I am retired I am considering a dedicated overlander but...
Late response but I think of a griddle as simply a larger fry pan-so anything that can be fried or sautéed works. I normally use a griddle for fried veggies, smash burgers, breakfast (think pancakes, bacon, eggs and scramble for burritos). If you have room take a wok lid (or any heat safe bowl)...
We have one and used it on our last trip (first time) but I still don't seem to get the gist of downloading trails and routes, so gotta keep figuring that out. We ended up using Gaia and Trails Offroad linked to the InReach. I
@grubworm nailed it-even toast when topped with avocado seems to be gourmet meal these days-I tried avocado toast with a fried egg topped with chili crisp and it was delicious!
I understand the desire to support the home team and strive to do that as often as possible. Sadly the supply chain issue is impacting everyone-the guys at Springbar seem to be having the same issues and every camper manufacturer I spoke with seemed to have 12-18 month lead time on any camper...
I too have one and use it often-very good unit. I met the Tailgater people this weekend at Expo West and there is an interview with them in my Expo review on YouTube. They are great people, very friendly and passionate about their product-they were getting a lot of love at the Expo.
I spoke with the Gazelle folks at Expo West last weekend. When I asked about availability on the T3X she said they were not in stock, there were some orange T4s I recall her saying, When I asked when they would be available she just shrugged and said best to just sign up for notifications and...
We take a slightly different path and often listen to podcasts. One of our current favorites is "Small Town Murder" which is a comedy show that talks about these very odd ball murders that take place around the US. Not funny about the murder of course, but about the murderer. I know it sounds a...
I am normally not a fancy cook when camping, but I did a video on some poached salmon that turned out spectacularly and was relatively easy to make. Not everyone loves salmon I know, but this one was really good. If you care to check it out it is here-
For sure both of these products are on the pricey side. I think both are well worth the price, however I think they are also best used when you have limited space or have to go light weight. On most occasions we take real eggs and use a French press or percolator for our coffee.
By the...
I think you hit on my main gripe with a ground tent (and all I use is a ground tent or sleep in vehicle) and that is putting it away wet. This is not so bad if you are heading home and can dry it out when you get there, but if you are doing multiple days it can become a bit of a pita in my book...
You mentioned that you were two going on 3 some day-what are your thoughts on carrying the little on up and down a ladder into the tent. I too have always been a ground tent person but the more varied locations you travel the more you think of other solutions. We have just slept in the Jeep many...
We spent a night in Crescent City as well, a great place to stay that let us explore the Redwoods more. The downside was that on Friday night all the restaurants closed at 8 pm! We ended up at the Ocean View hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. I am not sure what I expected...
