I see Sierra Trading has a couple of the Alpine Start coffees on sale-not sure if the price is something special or if shipping kills the bargain but if it works and you want to try it here is the link-...
There is some great information here. I think, at the end of the day, that a person just needs to be clear on what he axe will be used for and then look for axes that fit the bill. I know that is not earth shattering insight but my Fiskars X25 is better at splitting wood at the campsite than my...
Interesting info on the warranty and change of handle composition. i have an X25 which may be the older style since the handle is entirely black but it has served me well and generally splits the firewood with little effort. Nice to know if it fails they are there to stand behind it. On the...
I have done the same and agree 100%-the sanding down (I don't take it to metal, just smooth it out) makes it night and day as to the seasoning of a pre-seasoned Lodge pan.
I tried that Flaxseed Sheryl Canter style. Not sure if my oven got too hot but the stuff just flaked off so I threw that one out. Perhaps if I had used 450-500 instead of 550 it would have worked better.
I love Spam and always have-I had a boss from Hawaii who would marinate in soy sauce (can you say sodium!) and then would use it in Spam sushi rolls...swore it was to die for.
Now that is a thought-in warmer weather brew up a gallon of cold brew-the stuff I make is mixed 1:2 with water-you would get a good amount of coffee that way-brilliant!
Good afternoon all. We decided to put up some shorter videos called Just a Tip from Dickin' Around Outdoors that give our impressions of some of the gear we use-the first is kitchen knives for the chuck box-I hope you find it useful. If you have other knives or sets that you think are great...
Any good instant coffee brands that you would recommend? I am also a fan of the local cafe scene when traveling-always interesting to chat with and watch the comings and goings of the locals.
Hey all, just to let you know that my new video just went up. Today's video is Tamale Pie in the dutch oven, another older school recipe that uses very little fridge/cooler space for ingredients. Hope you enjoy it.
I concur with the first sentence absolutely here. There is a reason that we have warning labels that tell us not to lick live wires, pour caustic acid down our throats or get drunk at a campsite and throw a rave causing distress for all those around us-the majority of people would never do...
In order of smaller vehicle (motorcycle) to midsize (canoe) to largest (full size PU) and excluding cooking over a fire. Firebox G2 with Trangia gas attachment, Coleman Sportster and/or MSR Whisperlight, and lastly Coleman Dual Fuel Powerhouse. I have a collection of stoves and other apparatus...
Now that Thanksgiving dinner would have made one heck of a video! Let me know next time and I will bring my camera crew (or as I call her the Mrs.) and we will put it up. But only if we get to stay and eat!
I just put up my next recipe on the channel. This one takes a turn to the more highbrow side of camp cooking but is still all done on the cookers I use at camp. I hope you enjoy it and try it-it is really good.
