Nate - Welcome from UpState NY
I just moved back east after 26 years in AZ. I miss my short weekend trips up north to Eager and Alpine.
Make sure you post some pics of your build
Until then take care and stay safe
I wish I had you in my corner for the last 5 years I would have saved so much $$$.
Jokes aside - Great Advice, it's easy to fall into the hype that we see on YouTube and other venues.
What did you end up settling on? Now while I drive a Ram I decided to limit my choices between; Carli, Icon, or AEV. If I go with Carli to Icon I'll end up with the full kit that includes the upper control arms with the add on Core 4x4 control arms. If go with AEV I'll save at least 1/2 the cash.
My preferred options are my Dutch Oven by Lodge, My Cast Iron Jim Beam Wok, and for eggs my 3.5 inch lodge mini cast iron skillet. I like to wipe down my cast iron with a paper towel that I pour a little oil on.
Over the past 12 years I have traveled the states, racking in over 25k miles before finally settling down to a full time WAH post in 2018. With that travel I had to basically pack up and go for up to 18 months at a time, driving from AZ to FL, AZ to MA, AZ to ID and so on I gave up the Hotel...
I'm going with my softopper for year one, with KB Voodoo Fab Rack, I might end up selling those mods over the next two years and upgrade to a RSI Smartcap Evo for that added security. I run TKSTAR GPS Trackers on my rigs for that added piece of mind.
I'm just as Stoked as you are about this build, love the attention to detail and most of all the advanced planning that took place here. I'm in year 5 of my CJ Resto, a never ending build that might take me a few more years until I get it just right. For my Ram I broke out the 'Chip Foose Etch...
I absolutely love this RIG; from the first Prototype Pull Kitchen to the finished product ready to order, the KB voodoo modular rack and pull out tray and lets not forget the genius pulley system in the back yard for easy removal. I based my Ram build off this example. I added the softopper...
Welcome from UpState NY.
You couldn't have picked a better venue for a treasure-trove of knowledge.
Pack up that Chevy Tahoe and hit the road - destination TBD... can't wait to see the pics.
Thanks for the input, I had stocked up on those mini Coleman canisters - picked up 4 cases from BJ's. I can use them for the Stove, and Mr Buddy Water Heater. I can use this Growler for the Mr. Buddy Heater.
Welcome to the Team;
SoCal / Long Beach - I had an offer to work out of LB for 3rd Party Payers, I sometimes I wonder what Life would have been like if I had made the move. How do you like the Ignik Gas Tank? Did you pick that up at REI? I happen to have that in my Cart at the moment, with a...
Hey there, no need to show us such a sweet looking rig. I was looking at the ZR2 myself, it's such a great platform to build off. If you find yourself looking into adding a winch, check out Vice Designs for their Integrated Winch Mounts. Can't wait to see what you do next, and what trails you...
Hello Shawna, and welcome to the team. I can't imagine how proud you are of your son, I hold a special place in my heart for those who serve to protect (Past and Present) can't wait to see when you and your son head off on an off road adventure.
Best regards - from UpState NY
