Hey nothing wrong with stock :) KISS is our motto here in the Northwest. @Sandpoint Steve also runs a 4th Gen Runner which is an inspiration to mild upgrades built for simplicity and on the cheap.

    Winch Bumper for a 1988 Chevy 3/4 Ton 4X4

Best place to look is your local fam fabricator.... stuff that old it’s hard to come by... I’m having similar issues with my 89 Bronco...what I’m finding is either DIY kits, or local fabricators... one last option is to get a HF welder and weld up your own.

GMC Canyon SLE CCLB: Boise ID

    Protecting leather from rain

Here is a Rossi (Winchester Clone) that i referbished a few years back... as you can tell the stock was hammered... I used the technique above to achieve the results in the second picture. Onto leather... the Beezwax is probably your best bet for long exposures to UV. Neetsfoot oil is great if...

My Ham Shack- Yaesu FT-2900- Icom IC-7100, and a leap into the digital world of radio

Late to the party... I have a 65 amp Continuous Duty Filtered inverter that I had laying around, I get 0 noise from it, and its mounted next to my rig inside the Go-Box... In fact it works so good as a power supply a couple of my friends use their travel trailers as their Mobile Ham Shack, that...

Any other VE's floating around in here?

I’m becoming a VE as soon as I take the time to take the open book test and submit the paperwork. Get in touch with @brien for more information about the Official Overland Bound Ham Club that is in the works. Also your idea is exactly what we are trying to put together here in the Northwest.

    The Tri-Cities Clubhouse

Have fun at the lakes. I spent the day yesterday doing boat stuff... got my boat licensed and registered, took my boat safety class, now all that is left to do to get into the water is lengthen the safety chains on the trailer and lengthen the the trailer light pigtail so I have lights. Then...

My Ham Shack- Yaesu FT-2900- Icom IC-7100, and a leap into the digital world of radio

Well after a full week of messing around with HF antennas, I got one to finally work on all bands but the 80m. I still can’t get a good useable SWR on 80m and the noise is above S9... I’m working on building an 80m Hamstick Dipole for 80m, although it will probably be a multi band antenna as...

How bare bones do you go for a short trip?

I didn’t add in recovery gear because both @KRose 4Runner and my Bronco have recovery gear that doesn’t leave the rigs.
