National Forests are open. However, campgrounds May or may not be. The easiest way to find out what is open and closed is to call the National Forest Service Ranger Station for the area you wish to explore and ask what the regulations are for that area for that timeframe due to ever changing...
Welcome Drew and Fam,
I am the Northwest Director. @Munga Brown and @Greg Eigsti are your closest member representatives. Due to COVID-18 and the verrying degree of closures throughout the northwest, as well as the rest of the world, all Expos and Rally’s for the year have been canceled...
There will be 3, maybe 4 of us plus the little dog. CB and FRS sounds good, I’ll bring my HF rig too just in case we need to make a long distance cry out for help.
My Bronco has a stock 35 amp alternator, but in the late 90’s most automotive manufacturers started putting in 65-230 amp alternators to handle the demands of OBDII electrical loads.
Thanks for the offer Jim. The HF winch tray won’t work for my application, it’s 40” between the frame rails of the Bronco and the HF Tray is 37”.
The tray isn’t that hard to build... and I bought the material to build it a long time ago... the hard part was getting someone to help me get the...
No I can’t tune in FRS on my ham yet. we are taking my wife’s 4Runner for this trip wich doesn’t and won’t have dedicated coms... but if we run CB, I have a nice Galaxy 959 with mag mount antenna that I can toss in to her rig... we also have the little FRS radios.

What are we going to use for trail coms? Need to figure out how to configure my Go-Box

Now to address your other questions. I highly recommend watching “DIY Solar Power with Will”. The kid talks pretty plainly to understand all the...
they have been around for a little while. All the reviews I have seen for the BOG-Out have been by corporate sponsors... no real world reviews. When first released, they were offering a discount to OB members, but due to them advertising on the forums I am not sure if they are still offering...

Just ordered off of eBay, thank you for the link. This is exactly what @KRose has been asking for for a sleeping upgrade. I hope it keeps her warm enough... I find bags too warm... so the seller ate zippers should be a nice touch for heat control in warmer weather.
Normally when I go tent shopping, I head to Wal-Mart and pick up an Ozark Trails Tent. They get the job done. They are cheap. If maintained properly, they can last a long time.
However Wal-Mar tents also have some serious downsides:
They can be a pain to set up
They are constructed of light...
