    Silverado 1500 Front Bumper Ideas

It may not do much for real ground clearance, but it helps. At least I'm not scraping parking lot curbing, not plowing snow when it's more than 6 inches, and mild off roading on trails wont be a PITA. True, that chin strap saves you roughly a mile per gallon on the highway, but that's because...

    Silverado 1500 Front Bumper Ideas

Cant find that on the website now, though. I hate that stupid chin strap that hangs off the bottom of the newer GM truck front bumpers. So I took mine off and it already improved angle of approach.

    Silverado 1500 Front Bumper Ideas

GM used to make a metal shield kit. Saw this in another, unnamed forum... Part Name: Under Body Shield, For Vehicles with V8 Engines Part #: 23176881 Brand: Chevrole/GMCt OEM Help protect the underside of your Silverado 1500 equipped with a V8 engine from road debris that can harm key mechanical...

    Overlanding with older vehicles

I've said in other posts that I had two K1500 full size two-door Blazers. A 1994 and then a 1993. Loved them both, but not quite the old-school I always wanted. Always wanted a Jaws Sherrif Brody or Stranger Things Chief Hopper style K5. Someday I will. For now, though, I am planning to...

    Overlanding with older vehicles

Right?! I was getting interested in seeing 1970's Ram Charger Wagons, Broncos, CJ's and K5 Blazers with brown, red and orange stripes and maybe white wagon wheels and stuff. Maybe some air brushed painted horses, eagles or ladies on them... Oh well. A guy can dream, cant he?

    Just another WJ

Nice radiator! Thank you all for posting. I'm paying attention

    Overlanding with "stock" 4X4

That's unfortunate. Are Bilsteins better than Pro Comps for my '99 WJ? I dont know. But I do know I'm happy with my Pro Comps. I'm not a hard core rock climber. It should be about what's right for you and not a contest. Although I can see guiding someone who hasn't followed best practice, and...

I emailed Bash directly once and got a quick reply.

OB Approved 10 Tips For Sleeping Warm In Camp

This is a great write up! Some I knew and used, some I've seen for the first time. Thank you for taking the time. A word of caution about hot water bottles. If you are the type who is restless during sleep or you tend to open the bag or cover...be aware that over the course of the night, a hot...

Another WJ 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee DDable/Weekenderlander (slow project)

(Correction, I have a 98, not a 98) Does HK offroad no longer make the Kratos? It was a WJ rear hatch mounted spare tire carrier. Because of the way the WJ hatch was made, the Kratos sat kind of high on the hatch. You wouldnt be able to open just the hatch glass, but the entire hatch would...

    2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo

I can get high teens on the highway, and almost but not quite to 20/21 on the highway if i baby and all is in alignment, not much cargo, etc. By no means am I saying the 4.7 is junk. Nice engine. But I'd had Chrysler products in the past with iron block, aluminum heads. For whatever reason, at...

OB Approved Overland Bound Comms Frequency Guide

Etc etc. Though there is a minor discrepancy around channels 25 to 23 as the frequencies are out of order.

OB Approved Overland Bound Comms Frequency Guide

Just a little more detail about US CB...it is similar to the UK version, whereas there are 40 channels at AM frequencies 26.965 through 27.405 Mhz. Usually the channels are separated by .010 of a Mhz, so channel 40 is 27.405 Mhz, 39 is 27.395

My Suburban is my go to travel and camping vehicle

??? I just stumbled onto this thread. I liked the Yakima Slim Shady. The Radio mount. It all seemed like it was going somewhere. I'm a big fan of the K5 Blazer, considered an 07-13 Tahoe, and recently bought a double cab Sierra and put a cap on it. Both similar to the Suburban in a way...I was...

My Tiny Overland House (TOH) - GMC Sierra 1500 SLE extended Cab with one of a kind camper shell.

That is a gorgeous wood interior! And yep, the exterior looks like a land yacht, which makes sense if a boat builder made it. Nice catch with the older but great condition truck. Three months later, is there any news on this?

In with the new / Wj build

Nice WJ and all. I have one myself and am a fan. But I'm also a fan of those Rangers. And yours looked pretty damned nice. Please dont tell me you got rid of the Ranger?!

Another WJ 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee DDable/Weekenderlander (slow project)

If I can interject, my old 98 WJ was sagging. I replaced the old springs with IRO 2" lift, and the perch isolators. I sure went up more than 2". I dont know that you will need adjustable lower control arms for such a mild lift as 1.5 inches. Frankly there's not much you really have to change...

    2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo

Also, I have the bullet-proof 4.0 liter 6 cylinder. It may not have the power of the 4.7 v8, but it gets a little better fuel economy and I dont have to worry about that iron block vs aluminum heads issue if things get a little hot. My fan is mechanical, though I may look at adding an electric...

    2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo

I havent even read this whole thread yet but I am watching and appreciate it. I have a 14 GMC Sierra, and a '99 Jeep WJ. Does the Wrangler steel wheel offset also apply to the wrangler alloys? I'll have to look at mine, now that I've seen this. Mine is lifted a little over 2 inches. Not with a...
