I think you are doing an excellent job. I’m fallowing very well, but then again I’ve been studying and experimenting with different antennas and power settings. I really don’t have anything to add yet in hopes of not confusing others... I’ll keep watching this thread though.

No the Icom IC7100 is a lot more powerful radio than that... it’s a full 160-6 HF, 2m/70 cm and even covers part of the 1.2m band... you don’t mention what your long discontinued radio is, but is it a 100w rig?

So I just checked the cooler... turned off, no cover 2 hours and I’m at 32 degrees F, ambient temperature is a constant 81 degrees F.

Yes one with cover on and one with cover off.

So half an hour in and it’s already down to 25 degrees... next test will be to throw the cover on and see how long it stays cool
