So just got back from my first real trip with the Lido Mounts... We tested out several models in my wife’s 4Runner.
The LM-200 CD mount sucks... I used it for my iPhone XR and it made it a 1/4 mile up the FS road before it fell out.... after about a dozen times of it vibrating out of the CD...
I’m a member of the ARRL, so I got the link in a news letter... then got an email from RT Systems and Icom the fallowing day. So no, you didn’t miss anything. And yes tons of stuff going to be talked about... I am looking forward to the vender booths myself.
Vehicle Trash Talk Amongst Friends:
My friends and I drive different breeds of rigs, One guy is die hard Ford guy, another owns several Chevy Trucks, one guy drives a Jeep Wrangler, wile one guy has a pretty nice second gen Ram. We all get a long quite well until Brands get involved. Then it’s...
Welcome Warren,
Glad you found us. You are in Overland Bound Midwest, @Mike W is your Regional Director. Mike can get you in touch with a local Member Representative to help you meet fellow OB Members.
Lots of stuff to see down that way. The middle fork john day is a must to fish... the river is low enough to do some mild kayak floating without worrying about white water.
@PNW EXPLR has a trick setup for his battery mounted in the bed of his Ram. While not conventional, I’m stealing his idea for adding a third battery to my Bronco. Maybe Mike D. Can get some pictures up of his setup. I think his complete setup is pretty online with what you are wanting to do.
No problem. I enjoy doing it.
I tweeked the route a little bit. It breaks down into roughly 8-10 days with one hotel night and possibly a group camp fee of $80.00 to stay in/near a mining cabin.

I’m in the planning process for this trip, or a combination tour... still in the research phase. Oregon has more Ghost Towns than any other state, some actual ghost towns, and others are supported only by the tourism industry... I’m trying to put together a complete trail guide to the Oregon...
I looked at the “Adventure Machine”; shook my head and walked in by. Thought about buying the parts to fix her, then thought naw... I’ll take the wife’s car to the car wash instead.
Take that Eddie, make me walk and see what you get.
Welcome to OB.
We strive to live toward the founding principles, and keep the place family friendly. I just took my 15 year old daughter in her first OB trip (not first Overlanding trip) last weekend. Her thoughts on the trip home was “Dad! Your FRIENDS are Cool!”. And that is the way we strive...
I’m going to put together a few other ghost town hunts... all themed... this is just the Mining Ghost Towns. Tomorrow I’ll do the logging ghost towns of Oregon.
