    Vermont Offroad / Overlanding

Hi Lugnut @ NolanDick , I'm around Boston as well. Regarding Puppy Dog Trail, and certainly VT rt 100(?)...ive not done them myself, but from video I've seen, there are, as you have noticed, actually a lot of paved roads throughout., so I'm not surprised. Sure, they keep saying how these...

    Chevy Silverado

Well, I havent had to purchase or change brakes for a new car since 2007. Since then, it's been a 20 year old Jeep or a 25 year old big Blazer. Those parts were not expensive. Talked with some guys on a Chevy/GMC truck forum and they recommended Z36 Power Stop. 4 rotors and all pads came in at...

    RI and Massachusetts Trail Thread

@Nomadik Nova Welcome to Mazzachuzitts! It sucks here for this type of thing. Places like this are few and far between. I have to drive an hour or two to get anywhere interesting (except the ocean, of course). Let me PM you some details of where this is. It's a pretty small falls, but...

    Chevy Silverado

Does anyone here have an opinion as to what brand brakes would be best for these K2 series, 2014-2018 GM trucks? Looking for stopping power first, then longevity with a minimum of brake dust

    Chevy Silverado

Here's where I am right now. .'14 GMC Sierra double cab z71 (I know it's a Silverado thread but hey...) .Leer 180 cap .TracRac CapRac roof rack system that I installed second hand .Removed the front bumper lower chin strap. That step goes a long way. .Currently on Geolandar highway tires What's...

    2017 GMC Sierra overland build

I'm just not sure how I would affix the pvc pipe to the roof rack without the hardware affecting the free-spinning of the central roller...

    2017 GMC Sierra overland build

Yeah, I like it. And I just wanted to know because I'm probably gonna just do that same thing. But then I saw yours and suddenly wondered what it would be like to encase that in a PVC pipe with a slot running the length of it, with just that rigid end on the outside of the PVC...and two little...

    2017 GMC Sierra overland build

Ok, I really like the DIY factor of a tarp instead of paying a thousand bucks for something pre-fab and fancy! Do you literally have to un-velcro the tarp and manually unwind it around the pole as it grows larger and more unwieldy until it is fully extended, or did you manage some "window...

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Nice truck. I was looking at a Custom Trail Boss just over a year ago, in Havana Brown. Nice, good solid truck with not a lot of unnecessary frills - just the way I like it. We couldn't get together on price so I eventually went used, but maybe someday... Very nice

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Are you my long lost, secret twin brother?! The GM K2 platform (pickups and large SUV's 2014 - 2018) were the last time I saw a single cab, short bed GM pickup, and even then they were rare. And they were also the last platform for which you could get a manual 4x4 floor shifter, in the Work...

    RI and Massachusetts Trail Thread

We are at 10:22 pm, bathing the dogs after checking them for ticks. Scout the Thundah Beagle had not one tick found on him, though there was evidence of a bite that killed the tick. Meanwhike one of her Yorkies had managed to collect 3. This is a good time to stress the importance of giving a...

It's not obvious in that picture, but that group of stones in front of my truck is strewn around a slightly more harshly graded drop-off. I know I could have made it past this obstacle but it wasn't worth potential damage to the truck. Next time I will come back after the front has been leveled...

Today I went to a particularly regal town's little waterfall. Nice little trail leading in. Made it a pretty good distance with my Sierra, although once we found a place to park (it was really just a tiny nook to the side of the trail), we walked the rest of the way.
