I dont recall if I sounded off here yet or not.
North Shore with a South Central satellite here.
14 GMC Sierra z71 for comfort
99 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I feel like having to fix something and still not have real offroad cred
Being from the Northeast, I dont believe it is "nearly useless". Is it necessary? No. Is it useful? Yes.
Despite what manufacturers are telling you these days, it is still advisable - in the winter at least - to warm up your vehicle before moving on. Yes, for the engine to lube and get warm...
Never been there. Sounds like it might be good. And a petting zoo?! Sawyers as an alternative? More central? I'm not sure where everyone is coming from.
Silly, I know, as it's not beer-related, but I have had an epiphany...there is an ice cream place on the river in Lowell Mass called Heritage Farm. They opened on thier normal spring opening day and have been serving through the ice cream windows. I was there like 3 weeks ago on a nice day and...
I do like the Tahoe platform, though. It's the closest thing we have to the old k5 and 90's k1500 big Blazers. Nice, big, 4 door with a lot of storage, but rather shorter wheelbase than the suburbans or even a lot of pickups these days
Back in the mid-1990's they actually had a human vaccine against Lyme disease. It went by the wayside, I believe due to lack of sales. Nobody thought seriously enough about it to get it.
So now, my dog has a Lyme vaccine and I cant get one.
Just remember, ticks dwell in grass and on low bush...
If you do wind up with a GMT900 platform (2008 -2013 pickup, Tahoe, Yukon), they already start ot with a good amount of height. They come out of the box sort of ready for something like a logging trail or fire road. It doesnt take much more than leveling the front (2" budget boost or Bilstein...
Holy smokes, RJ! That looks like a lot of work.
I'm interested in getting out and about on fire roads or something like it. Nothing too technical and no rock crawling for me yet. My old Grand Cherokee is needing some work and I'm driving a GMC Sierra. I just put a Leer 180 on the back and plan...
That's amazing. Right in the wheelhouse of some of the fiberglass ones...cost a heck of a lot more, though...for that price I can find a GMT400 Tahoe or Suburban. Then again if I had a newer truck (newer than 2014), and a couple extra grand over the cost of fiberglass, I'd do it
Truck caps used to all be aluminum until the fiberglass started becoming more pervasive in the late 1980's. They sure do still make them.
Interestingly, I have a TracRac Van Rac and a TracRac Cap Rac that are rated for 500 lbs, whereas the fiberglass cap is rated much lower. So at least the...
That's pretty nice! Stainless steel construction- at first I winces at how much it must weigh. But then I thought, isnt a full on suburban just as heavy with its additional roof frame, sheet metal and glass?
