In Hotel 8 school (army recovery school) they spend several days in the classroom going over static resistances. Meaning stuck in mud, snow, disabled wheels, frame buried, etc... the 150% is a minimum...
I purchased my Junkyard Motor, picked up another box full of parts from My good friends at NAPA, squirted some liquid wrench into my stubborn exhaust manifold bolts, ordered a new steering gear box pitman arm and new drive shafts. Tomorrow I will drop the transfer case and transmission, then...
@Jim SoG, the issue is the bold MAY entitle pass card holder to discounts... as I stated earlier on and as verified by @Boppa's Travels that if aCG is run by a third party, the pass is more than likely not honored. If the website has a reservation system where the access card or discount code...
@MOAK , im glad you are liking my write up. I’m keeping the TTB front end... I don’t know if I’m going to do a hybrid D50 build on it, a full on D50 swap, or just leave it the way it is...
The TTB makes for a very smooth ride. A solid axle swap would be cool... but I just sold my built D60’s...
Well progress was slow last week. I had an old pickup I needed to detail out, repair a few minor problems all to sell for more funds for the Bronco... now that the cash problem is slightly fixed, I’m going to be back full speed on this Tuesday.
I built a 4 band HF Hamstick Dipole called the Octopus. It’s a very simple build, took about half an hour. And I’m getting pretty decent results with it. I’m thinking of outing it in a tv antenna rotator as it seams to be a directional antenna in the transmit side.
MFJ offers the kit for 80...
I love my Mile Marker HS18000 hydraulic winch.
As for line? Depends... if you’re using it mostly in a desert environment over large rocks, steel cable is more durable than synthetic line, but if in a wet environment synthetic line won’t rust... steel is cheaper to replace, synthetic is...
I wish I could find a deal like that on a Bronco today... the price jumped huge last month. And right now is a seller’s market for any automobile. Dealerships are buying up all the used inventory and finding private sellers is getting hard (around here at least) which is jacking up the price...
Two days ago I was second guessing myself... took it around the block one time, and realized that as much as I loved the old girl, the Bronco is going to be worth mor to myself and to others down the road.
the money is definitely going to help the Bronco Build... Junkyard motor is now payed for...
I think that’s how most of us use it... pair it to our devices I. The rig, then carry it on our persons while out of the rig... the Text feature is great if you are in the need...
If I was starting over for my wife, I would get her the rig she wanted and have her build it out her way.... ohh wait I did that... she chose a 4th Gen 4Runner. And is modding it out to suit her... we are leaving the Bronco as the hard trail truck, and hers see the roads she is comfortable...
Is no real reason? The ability to communicate at 5 watts of power reliably is enough reason for me... look up QRP. The things you can do on 2m are so much better than on 11m. I said I have a cb... it is the last means of coms, and usually only monitored, I did one trip this year where the cb...
I have CB, ham, and will soon have GMRS... the deal is as @Greg Eigsti pointed out... it doesn’t matter what you have if no one else is using the Coms you use. Now going solo is a whole different matter... nothing beats HF for distance and usefulness.
There are several ways to achieve this goal... run the wires under the windshield coweling, then up the windshield trim to your roof (there is a huge void between the trim pieces and the edge of the windshield.
Second way is through a door jam.
Third way, drill a hole in the roof and get a...
