Free? Not really. I mean the grasslands up here in North Texas but that's because they fall under the NFS. Texas is pretty poor as far as public lands goes. Very little of the state is set aside for it (4.6%), the majority of it is pay to play, which I'm mostly OK with but there's very...
I'm in the same boat with my TAB 3, it was acting really strange crashing at random. Deleted GAIA went back to reload it and Google Play so joy your tablet isn't good enough lol.
Can't really swing Samsung money right now so exploring no name tablet options right now. If anyone has any ideas...
Those hood releases seem to be the first thing to go. I've fought a few car fires and never had one work by the time we got here. We used to use a big prybar to get it open. Now that we have our battery powered "jaws of life" we grab that and pop the hood open in seconds.
Not ideal but it will still work. You could always make your own groundplane by bolting a circle of metal to the mount. It will help with performance of your longer antennas too.
Here's a premade solution...
Love the Tradesman trucks. If I was going to get a new truck it would be one of those. Simple bare bones, vinyl floors. My dad had a single cab dually, with the diesel. Great truck.
One of the good things about GMRS is you don't need a huge ground plane to make it work well.
I always suggest having more than one antenna on hand for various circumstances. Different tools for different jobs. The little ghost antenna will be great for tight trails or if your group is spread...
I locks the ECC (Electronically Controlled Clutch) in the rear driveline to give you a 50/50 torque split like shifting a Transfer case into 4 High. Well sort of. If the system detects driveline bind in a turn it will momentarily release the clutch then reengage it.
They also have Freedom...
Ewwww. Yeah I stayed at Beaver's Bend once at the behest of some folks that were with us. It was the most disgusting place I'd ever stayed. Pretty sure the bathrooms haven't been maintained or cleaned since they were built.
If you are looking for exact spots I don't have a lot. Really...
I've used them quite a bit in wet areas to get fires going. Quite effective. Make sure it burns completely off before you cook or anything on it though. We use them at work a lot to mark wrecks. Don't want to be ingesting that stuff hah.
I use these from Wal Mart. Less than 3 dollars a pack...
For the times I do take fuel with me I take this. Surprisingly the fancy valve hasn't failed me in 3 years of use now. And I've never once smelled gas fumes from it.
Can't get the Amazon link to work.
I've got some on my rear driver's quarter window since it's largely useless anyway, A couple on the small window inserts for the back doors and two on my rear hatch glass.
At what point do we say, "You know what? Screw it I'm just going to get an RV."
I"m suspicious of their weights. 190lbs for the small one 250 for the big one. I guess if they really used a lot of Carbon Fiber they could keep it that light even with all the gizmos they have installed on it.
I used my craftsman 20V saw for about an hour condensing my burn pile into more of a pile. I'd make a cut and toss it onto the pile, make another cut and toss it, so on and so on. Largest things cut with it was multiple cuts on a 9 inch diameter tree. I used the larger battery pack. The...
I've got a 10 gallon Front Runner footwell tank coming in tomorrow and have a 12v pump and clear poly tubing to rig up an onboard system. Most anything I put in the Jeep needs to be removable, I refuse to haul around hundreds of lbs of extra gear I don't need haha. So everything needs to be...
You're no longer required to keep a paper document around or in your car. As long as you're in the ULS you're good to go.
@SCS before COVID they were getting GMRS call signs out in 24-48 hours. Not sure how long it's taking right now.
