US Northwest Treasure Valley Overland Expo PNW

My weekends are booked up prior to the event, unfortunately. Got a dump run, then a BBQ on Saturday. Sunday, dad and I are measuring for a large kitchen project. Next weekend I have more yard work and another BBQ. Fridays after work I'm tired and want to go home.

2004 Nissan Xterra - Back from the dead.

I don't have skids for mine yet..... I bought my sliders from a guy on xterranation, and UPS just but a shipping tag on them. They weren't even in a box. Just saying it might be an option....and I'd pay for shipping.

Fair enough. Are you gonna be starting a thread for the disco? Got anything laying around from the X that you wanna get rid of for cheap? :grinning:

    Inland Northwest

You don't need to spend that much on a vehicle. Trust me. As far as meeting up at the event, there is a standard OB GMRS radio channel that we'll likely all be using. I can keep my handheld on me, and if you hop on there, we should be able to hear you. If you want, I'd be happy to provide you...

    2022 Frontier Pro4x

Love the color. I too think Nissan did a REALLY good job with the redesign. I have no interest in replacing my 2013 Pro-4x, but man, that's a good looking rig. Following to see what you do with it.

    Inland Northwest

Welcome @stonefoxsally! Your subie can be just as much of an overland vehicle as anything else can. Anybody who tells you otherwise is wrong. As far as expo goes, we've got a group coming from the Boise area. While coming down this way would be WAY out of the way, we'd be happy to link up...

US Northwest Treasure Valley Overland Expo PNW

As far as starting point, I'd prefer not to have to backtrack into Boise, so would it be possible to meet either in Caldwell, or another place enroute? Maybe a stop in Ontario?

    Overland Gear

OHV is short for off highway vehicle. Typically, these are designated areas where things like dirt bikes, side by sides, and rock buggies are allowed.

    Overland Gear

First of all, welcome to the rabbit hole. I'm a big proponent of starting simple. You've got experience camping, so start with what you have. You've got the sleeping situation covered. Great! Grab a cooler, some water, and and get out there. The only things I would say are necessary is...

Fair enough! I think I still average about 18mpg on the highway when towing my trailer, though I've only had it out once since it's been finished, so I'm not 100% sure.

My wife and I were planning on heading out from Caldwell in the AM as well on Thursday. Since we have a 5yo,you may not want us to convoy as we have to take somewhat frequent stops for potty breaks (though we don't need a bathroom when we carry our own toilet). I would 100% NOT be offended if...

Good to know this feature is now active. Thanks @Michael If gas wasn't so freaking expensive right now, I'd be out exploring and testing these features more

Cost of gas has also made me shelve many of the trips I had planned for this year. Instead, we'll just be doing normal camping trips within a couple of hours of home. @Ceg if you're looking to spend about a week, I you could do the Idaho BDR. I know of a fantastic camp spot along the Owyhee...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I think I fixed my tail lights. I decided to see if it was a ground issue. The original lights were grounded to the trailer frame via a self tapping screw by the tongue jack. I originally had a ring terminal on the ground wire for the lights, and grounded it to the harness at that screw as well...

Dometic Fridge + Jackery Wiring Help

I noticed the same issue when trying to charge my power station off 12v, but I was using an added 12v socket that switched on with my ignition, and powered off my fuse block. My solution was to switch on my 400w inverter after starting the rig, and use that to charge while driving. It worked...

Dometic Fridge + Jackery Wiring Help

Do you know if your jackery has a regulated 12v outlet? If not, you won't get full use out of the battery before the fridge shuts off. I had to add an inline stabilizer to my power station to keep the fridge running. Really easy to do. Stabilizer plugs into the 12v outlet on the battery, then...

Dometic Fridge + Jackery Wiring Help

This is the way. Although, 10ga is a bit overkill. The fridge draws at most 6A on startup, then likely settles down to 4A when running. Based in the distance in the jeep, 12ga should be more than enough to handle the current and voltage drop. Other than that, I agree with everything above. The...
