    01 xterra lift

In that case, I probably would upgrade the torsion bars. I haven't decided to put a steel bumper on mine yet. I'm thinking of having a winch plate made that sits inside the oem bumper.

    01 xterra lift

Unless you're adding a steel bumper, the stock torsion bars are more than adequate. You may need to pull and reindex the oem bars though.

    01 xterra lift

Just do a PML (poor mans lift), and add some shackles to the rear. I've been running that for a few years, and have been exceptionally happy with it. The only reason I'm upgrading my leaf springs is due to the trailer and rooftop tent I've not got up top.

Will my stock cargo rack and cross members work with a RTT

I don't know that I'd trust the stock rack of a 4runner with the weight of a tent. I made my own crossbars out of 1 5/8 superstrut, and bolted it to the rack of my Xterra, but the oem xterra rack is MUCH beefier than a 4runners. If you could find some heavy duty crossbars though, that might work.

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

It's The four circles in the top left corner are two multi usb ports, one 12v plug, and two 15A powerpole plugs (for modularity). I'm wiring 6 switches because there are 6 Relays in my relay box. It's trivial to build the harness for the plugs. A single 8 pin DT plug takes care of everything...

100%, absolutely, STAY AWAY from Calmini. https://www.turnto23.com/news/local-news/da-lawsuit-against-calmini-products-claims-customers-never-received-purchased-items Shipping sucks, but these guys build quality parts, and you are going to get them...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I've been working on a way to make it easier to add/change electrical components, as well as cleaning up the electrical in the trailer. I've come up with the following ideas: This solves my shunt not being wired up correctly. I'm also swapping the solar charger I currently have with one that...

    SkunkedGorillaz Projects

Being a late 90's-early 2000's GM vehicle, it has quirks. I should know.... I put 200k on my 96 before it had had enough at 279k miles....

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I'm currently talking to @dansun86 over at Talus Expedition Gear in Boise about what we can do to move the Axle back between 6-12 inches, and building a basic rack for the trailer. I'll be taking the trailer over there after new years to get this process moving. In the mean time, I've been...

How to safely transport a diesel heater

You'll have to scour Amazon for tanks, and pay close attention to the cap. I've seen several on there that don't have the vent holes.

And as always, plans are constantly changing, and shifting. New plan is to leave the structure of the box intact. This will allow me to tweak and modify what I currently have to the point where I know exactly what works (box height being the exception), and then will likely order a custom...

Box Talk: Thule/Yakima cargo vs. all the other boxes people put on their rooves.

The only issue I could see with the yakima/thule style boxes you're referring to would be the thickness of the plastic. Stuff bounces around, and thinner plastic won't take the abuse that comes with things beating into it all day. I bolted a couple of the 68 qt plano boxes to my rack, and ran...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

Over the last few days, I've decided that I'm going to rebuild the box of the trailer. I'm planning on making a lot of changes that just can't be done without rebuilding it,including the framing of the box. Exterior width will be exactly 48". Length will stay the same as it currently is, and...

A couple of things you can try for your batteries, water, and propane. Buy some rv tank heaters. Specifically, the reflective sticky pads that go on the outside of the tanks. A 7 inch X 21 inch pad Wraps beautifully around a 5lb propane tank. This will allow you to keep your propane at a...

Can you post a picture of the harnesses plug? We might be able to figure out how to replace it with something better, if we can see it..... And you're electrically capable.
