    US West Monterey Bay feeler

Hmmm, Just you n me, eh? Splitting the distance can put us around Aptos/Watsonville? Some small county parks there. Scott Family County Park comes to mind, only big enough parking for maybe half a dozen rigs, does have a bathroom! If we get serious I have a friend who owns a private park by...

    Need some help

Lots of territory, are you set up for offroad or are you confined to pavement? I'm more of a take the pavement somewhere and then get offroad to explore. You can find stuff to look at on some of the paper Road Atlas's. Some times it's nice to knock out the big attractions like Grand Canyon...

    US West Monterey Bay feeler

Hi Matt, I've been thinking some sort of outdoor area, so folks could set up rigs and at least make coffee. I'm not much for parking lots in malls. Question is where is such a place?

Internet Connection while overlanding and the announcement of Starlink

Plenty of disgruntled users on youtube. Mostly due to ANY trees in the way can block connection. At around $600 buy in, I find it expensive. I mean that can get me around 90 gallons of diesel! I do not feel the need to be connected when I go out to get away...........

    Awning mount extension options.

If you raise the awning will it interfere with the rtt being open? If not I'd just go for some 3/16" steel shaped to raise the awning where it is bolted to the brackets. Say 2 , 3" x 6" pieces with the holes drilled and the bottom angle cut.........

    Camping near Yosemite...

Kinda confused? Are you looking for West side of the Sierras or just West of 395 and East side of Sierras? Or since you might be coming from Port Hueneme(where my parents met) just the East side off Sierras. Some places like just off Hwy 167 have many places or a little further on the...

Does anyone take mountain bikes on overland trips?

Well,............since I drive a 52 year old vehicle(well maintained) and generally travel alone in the Outback of Nevada, I take my 2003 Titus full suspension mtb as backup if I breakdown or to explore dubious trails. I would love to have an e full suspension fat bike! Waiting on that lotto...

    Awnings

I'd add don't skimp, buy the best you can afford. I have a Rhino Rack Batwing 270 awning, with 1 exception I love it. That exception is the use of brittle plastic hinges. They break just from the weight of the poles and awning. You can read about my experience in my blog; Roaming Nevada 2019...
