    Comms for your rig

Interesting thread, in BC most groups have gone Ham. CB is all but dead in and GMRS and FRS simply do not seem have much of an adoption rate. Part of the reason I suspect for ham popularity up here is the logging companies are all on VHF, and those trucks will call thier KM markers and do not...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

@JimBill Knives that is a whole other discussion, but I carry a 40 year old Buck 110 and a 45 year old Gerber Mk1. The Gerber is in a modern sheath canted at about 40 deg, slides in right beside the seat belt nice as you please.

    Travel considerations when acquiring water

I have 2 water cans 1 5 gallon and 2.5 gallon which on I carry depends on the trip length. Water filters are tough, as it depends what kind of water source you are filtering. Here in BC most water, away for civilization is clear so the issue is contaminants, then you get into micron sizes...

    Overlanding with a large dog

I do not travel with a dog but travel with a lot of folks who do. The dog is always inside, generally on the passenger seat or the back seat. A fellow with a older series Land rover has 2 Burmese, and they ride in the back. Safety is not too much of an issue, if the dogs have room to settle...

    Nature Photos

The summer "Guest Cottage" is occupied, better known as the back deck. 1st up is a mostly blind mom, she has lost 1 eye and the other is very milky but she still raised 4 kits and did not lose on last year And a little later one of the kits from last year showed up, there was some...

Staying warm in the cold seasons. in your rig

@Mikeblack No, the usb fans pull all of 5 volts, and I do not get that much moisture. When I slept inside the truck I opened the window closest to me and put the fan in the blowing out, then opened the window on the other side for cross draft. My fan in about 4 inches across, it works pretty...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

@Lanlubber I had a head gasket issue in December the head gasket was just letting go literally, I had no over heat and some over pressure, just enough to spew AF out of the overflow. I fixed that in the driveway under an improvised shelter in January /Feb great fun but nor really hard. Prior...

    Overland Trails Kamloops BC

That is a big area lots of places to travel but it largely depends where you actually are. I have traveled most if it at one time or another, you can get close to Banff traveling FSR's but it can get tricky. I will post some ideas in the Am.

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

@Super T we (Canadians) can own pistols but range use only. The firearm of choice is a short barreled shotgun, 14 inch barrel 5 shot in my case, or a large caliber lever action. Given the current goverment madness show long those will last is anyone guess. But nothing up here can be used...

    Ace for overlanding

I won a Fiskers spliting axe last year that is one nice piece of kit , I also carry a bog standard "cutting" axe. They both get a fair bit of use, chainsaws work but I find swinging an axe pretty stress relieving.
