    MOST COMFORTABLE RIDING VEHICLE

@Tom Cryer I do not know, but at least 1 LR 4 :grinning: , a fellow club member is a member here. We get 3 to 5 Lr3/Lr4's out with our group they seem to do well ride nicer than my old disco

    MOST COMFORTABLE RIDING VEHICLE

I will be the outlier here but take a look at a Land Rover LR3/LR4, the air suspension will help as will the ability to lower the truck to get in and out. Harder to maintain to a certain extend, not really much worse than any other modern vehicle, but meets your requirements. They will go...

    Know what you're doing

I have chosen on many occasions to travel alone, I like my own company. But it take a very serious mindset change from traveling in a group. Slower and more cautious sums it up, you need to be able at any point to say the road ends here.

    Kovea portable butane heater

@ahroc @Baroda yes I wanted multiple fuel sources, propane is generally available but that is for my stove primarily. I prefer the butane for the Kovea, but high altitudes and butane do not mix. It is a great little heater for a cold morning sitting under my cook table or in front of a chair...

    Nature Photos

I finally got a decent photo of a grizzly about 15 - 20 meters from my Disco wandered past our campsite of 14 rovers, decent sized if a bit thin. Another club member felt he had to point out there was a bear, as I was not seeming to take adequate notice. I saw him just fine ,I just wanted a...

    RTT ( roof top tents)

@ScratchCoin One thing I failed to note they do not have an "off road" built trailer a better image below. It could have the suspension adjusted for a bit more height and tire clearance, as in second example below

    RTT ( roof top tents)

@ScratchCoin If you build the trailers right it can be very nice setup. I suggest a few runs to figure where you like to go and make sure the trailer idea works. We have had a few folks pull trailers and it did not always make for a fun trip for them. Not to dissuade you, just things to...

    RTT ( roof top tents)

@Conner Hunt if you base camp them do local trails and return to the base camp. The RTT is a little more work about a 40 minutes a day, if you have a clamshell. The hard shells and V shaped tents take maybe 10 minutes to close and open up. Personally I tend to move a lot so a non issue for me...

Rethinking many aspects of our Overlanding setup and goals.

There is also an outfit in the US that does a pop up canopy system for truck beds. It raises up and provides interior space, lighter and simpler than campers that did the same thing.

    Airing down E load tires.

@Ragman I like them , they are hybrid AT/MT and work well in the Pacific Northwest. These are my 2rd set in 5 years, had a set on an R50 Pathfinder prior to the Disco. They are decent in the rain, on pavement and not too noisy. Off road they seem to provide good traction, and clear...

    Airing down E load tires.

I run 18 Psi on my Cooper St Maxx off road and for short road speed sections (30 mph), between gravel. The sidewall on those does not flatten much event at 18 Psi, I have never noticed excessive heat or unusual wear. For reference I am in a LR Discovery II at about 4700 lbs loaded. I run 38...

    RTT ( roof top tents)

I saw that kind of idea a couple of years a go, a "light" weight platform that the folks put a standard ground tent on. They built for their tent so it had places for the pole ends to sit and a loop for each the places a stake would go the worked with a toggle system. The base was some sort of...

    Share your rookie knowledge, please?

hi @lhoffm4 you need to step back a bit and use your backyard to sort things out. I am 63 and I can get my 2 man RTT closed up and ready to go in about 20 minutes. I keep a pillow and medium duty sleeping bag in there on the stock mattress, no way another 3 inches would go and close. As...

Can I get a little help with a CVT awning please?

Looks exactly like my ARB awning literally. My bet is a good portion are all the same.

I think a ground tent would be the place to start as others have noted. It is not much more work to setup and take down that a roof top. Trailers are great but tend to be pricey
